Georgia rarely gets much love. Admittedly there are several states that have a beer scenes further along than ours but the local breweries are heating up:

Burnt Hickory- by far my favorite local and they have potential to become a major national player. Big, bold, flavorful brews accross several styles and they've already proven they can nail both barrel aged and sours as well as the incredible IPA, killer barleywines and fantastic stouts. They are THE Georgia brewery to watch this year as they expand and start canning/bottling.

Terrapin- puts out some great stuff. Wake N Bake is the beer responsible for getting me into craft beer and is still one of the best coffee stouts out there. Hopzilla, Moo Hoo, Liquid Bliss, Mosaic, Rye Cubed and the new Side Project #23 Guano Loco are all quite good too.

Sweetwater- our biggest local can be hit or miss but their IPA is top notch and they have some nice releases in the Dank Tank series.

I won't go into the specifics but Wild Heaven, Three Taverns, Jailhouse, Red Brick, Orpheus and Southbound all have some super releases that are worth checking out as well.

Earth Eagle (Portsmouth, NH): Great IPAs, especially New England Gangsta and Ancestral and very interesting gruits as well.
Throwback (North Hampton, NH): These two ladies use a lot of local ingredients like rhubarb (for their wit), local roasted coffee, and jalapeƱos.
Portsmouth Brewery: BottleRocket IPA and Grizzly Imperial Pale
Newburyport Brewing (Newburyport, MA): Enjoy their brews, especially the Greenhead IPA.
Night Shift (Everett, MA): Love Whirlpool (APA) and their barrel aged program.
    Trillium (Boston): Tasty farmhouse brews.
Of course... Maine Beer Co. & Jack's Abby.

Not much out there yet... talked to the brewer at Bradenton Beer Fest in May. He said they are aiming for August-September to open their tap room. I tried their IPA, was solid.

They are remodeling an old building.

Here is their blog page, though it looks like it hasn't been updated for about 6 weeks.

I've done some research since I quoted you as I spend a little time in AMI each winter. It appears all the addresses I find are Bradenton. Do you have a physical address they are opening at on AMI? This would be really cool as my parents usually got to bed around 9 and I've yet to find a place to have a few good beers in the evening. I guess they may even close that early themselves.

What I like about the craft beer community here is we're still young and growing. Oddly enough, for such a big city, we're kind of late to the game. We have excellent craft beer bars covered, but the brewing scene is just starting to gain momentum. For California brewing, we are underdogs - so it's exciting to see new breweries popping up every month. Aside from what Beachwood has already accomplished, it will be nice to see more world class breweries establish themselves, and put LA on the map. LA gets a lot of criticism - sometimes fairly, often times BS from people who have no idea what it's like here. It will be awesome to see a day when people are trading for LA beers and coming here as a craft destination.

The other thing I like about the craft beer scene here, which I don't think I've seen as much elsewhere, is it's a pretty diverse group culturally. Craft beer is pretty damn white overall - which is a whole other discussion. But in LA there are huge numbers of Hispanic and Asian craft fans, which I think is positive. Anything that brings people together is a good thing

No-Li is our largest, most well known brewery and they are making some fantastic stuff. They also are a great spokesman for the Spokane area.

Ramblin Road is a Belgian inspired brewery that has great Saisons and awesome owners.

Iron Goat makes traditional Northwest Ales and has lots of good barrel aged stuff.

Twelve Strings is doing some great barrel aged beers and isn't afraid to use tequila barrels.

We have lots of other good breweries too but those are my top 4.

I totally agree with what you posted and will add that I recently got to try a few beers from Roundabout (their Irish coffee stout and a funky IPA Colab with Rivertowne) and Hopfarm (their IPA). I must say I was pleased with all of them. They and a couple more newer breweries up around Pittsburgh are definitely on my list for my next visit (which is at the end of this month). Good things happening up there for sure!

Haven't read the entire thread to know what's already been said about Chicago...but here are my 'highlights' since moving here 3 months ago:

Half Acre taproom (also, Beer Hates Astronauts). Can't get enough of this place.
    Dryhop
    Bottles & Cans
That moment when you realize you've actually gotten used to seeing Zombie Dust on tap
    Goose Island Madame Rose
The concentration of breweries within a 10 minute bike ride of my apartment - Half Acre, Begyle, Metropolitan, Spiteful

Southeast Ohio is the neglected corner of the state, but my home town of Zanesville has Weasel Boy, which has a dumb name but some fine brews, including a couple GABF medals, and they are only getting better. Marietta Brewing is an hour or so, Jackie O's in Athens is an hour away, and Columbus is an hour away, with North High, Seventh Son, Four String all coming on strong to challenge the established breweries. Add in easy access to Fat Head, GLBC and Brew Kettle, and I am sitting pretty. I can go a long time only drinking Ohio breweries and feel really good about it. I am actually trying to sample a beer from every brewery in the state, which is a challenge. Up to about 40 out of 100+ and counting.

After diving into this, yes, it does appear that the confusion lies in the fact that the owner/brewer Michael Wagner began brewing personally on Anna Maria Island, but bas bounced around trying to find a spot for his brewhouse.

Based on this article, it does appear that he received a permit to occupy 301 E 7th St in Bradenton. Though to be honest, I have heard nothing else about this project.

    http://floridabeernews.com/2014/02/27/little-giant-brewery-receives-building-permit/

Other beer related apps are using Mr. Wagner's P.O. Box, which is on Anna Maria, causing further confusion. Sorry for any misinformation, but even my experience in talking with Michael at Bradenton Beer Fest (aka Lucky Dog Beer Fest) lead me to believe his intentions were to continue his beer pursuits on the island (versus Bradenton). He didn't even mention anything about the progress at the Bradenton location during our five minutes or so of conversing.

and add Olde Hickory and GreenMan to the list with an honorable mention to Appalachian Mountain Brewing in Boone, NC. Their Longleaf IPA, Say Hops Again Black Ale, Black Gold Porter and Corruption Stout are very nice

Here in very central Pennsylvania (State College at the moment, despite what my profile says), we've recently experienced a bit of a craft beer boom, with surprising number of breweries of varying quality.

    In town, we've got:
    Otto's Pub and Brewery
    Happy Valley Brewing
    Robin Hood Brewing

A little further afield (less than 45 minutes), there's:
The Gamble Mill Restaurant and Brewery
    Elk Creek Cafe & Aleworks

Slightly further out (less than 1.5 hours):
    Selin's Grove Brewing Co
    Bullfrog Brewery
    Marzoni's

As I said, there's both good and bad in there, but a surprising amount of very good. All of these breweries are in small to medium sized towns, supported almost entirely by local consumption. Very happy to have this as my local scene, at least until I head back to up to VT.

We get all the good stuff from most of the Midwest.
All the local brews 3floyds, flat12, barely island, upland, sun king, and triton are all great

We get everything from Michigan as well: Atwater, bells, founders!

As well as tons from other neighboring states

Right now CO is exploding with small breweries. It's a mild exaggeration, but it really feels like a new place opens every week.
There was a period where there were a lot of places opening and putting out some pretty dubious beers while they learned that homebrewing isn't the only pedigree you need.
However we've recently seen more and more places opening that have their shit straight on day #1. I think our future is bright and we won't be known as that place with a million so-so breweries much longer.
