I've noticed a bunch of threads recently that ended up getting locked. Which is fine, and I read the rules before I started posting, but I think it would be good etiquette for the moderator to post at the very end of the thread to indicate why the thread is being locked. E.g. it violates this rule, or doesn't meet the criteria for acceptable threads in that forum, not specific enough, etc. I am using the thread in Beer Talk about names for 750ml bottles as an example.

The purpose of this would be so that people, even those who did not post in the thread at all, can get some sort of feedback and even a better understanding of the rules on the forum. Otherwise I'll read a thread, get to the end and realize its locked, and its not quite obvious to me as to why it got locked.. I know its up to me to read the rules and figure out why (like the Pipeworks thread in the Great Lakes forum), but lets be honest, most people are going to do that less than half of the time.

tl;dr- if a moderator would submit a brief explanation for why a thread is being locked, it would be informative and even worthwhile to everyone. And people will know what NOT to do next time they start dreaming up another post.
