I've been wanting this for years, is it possible to show us which states we have or have not had a beer from? And would it be possible to do the same thing with beer styles that we have or have not had?

I think at one time you could have the states show up.

    Cheers!

While not actually what you are asking for, if one goes to “Top Beers by State,” the site will tell you how many of the top 250 you have had. Same deal for all the “Top Beer” lists.

    For Indiana...

So maybe your request, which I second, might be simple enough. I know BA has a lot of projects for improvement.

No, there is no way to get Beer Advocate to tell you which styles or states you have attained in your quest. This has proven frustrating for me twice with styles, when I noted that I had one less than before. Then I needed to figure out which had gone away. In both cases, a beer style which was ambiguous was changed, and then I had to go have another of that style. Luckily I identified them quickly, and had another beer. I think I lost a state once too, when a beer was attributed to another state for some reason.

I track states and styles in a spreadsheet so I have a ready list of which I need. I'm at 102 of 104 (going on 105 with NEIPA) styles, and 31 of 51 states (DC counts too).

I agree. Seeing as how we rate/review by style, it would be nice if we could click on a tab that showed how many in each category and also by state.

As I approach my fourth year on BeerAdvocate, I have compiled a few suggestions to make it easier to track users' beers. Currently, it's cumbersome to scroll through 50 beers at a time. I hope you will consider modifying the site (and any future apps) to do the following:
    1. Add filters to "Your Beers." In particular, it would be great to generate our personal lists by beer style.
    2. Add a "yours" column to the "Beer Styles" page, similar to the column displayed for each brewery, so that we can see our numeric ratings of the beers.
    3. Enable an Excel download, so that we can play around with our personal databases.
I have really enjoyed using BA. Thanks for offering such a great website!

Interesting ideas which would benefit some users. The question would be how difficult it would be to make those changes, and what's the up-side for Beer Advocate? Would it help get and keep more users, thus getting more eyes on the advertising? Maybe a handful, but it's doubtful that the benefits would justify the labor expense. And - every feature they add means more testing at each release, and more potential for breakage, requiring support labor.

I have often wished that they allowed the download of reviews, but could see how it could perhaps be used for nefarious reasons. I would imagine that the data captured here is of some value (obviously InBev thought so when they purchased Rate Beer)

At one time you could download, or at least print out your reviews.

    Cheers!

And now BA made it to where it feels weird not to "review" a beer while having it.
Thanks BA. I love you. But just so you know, my wife doesn't.

Extended user stats is something that @Mike and I have talked about quite a bit in the past and something that we plan on eventually offering.

Hi Todd, since you are doing site updates and refreshes, could you consider the following?
Specifically, under my beer profile I would like some more information
Beer Styles: can you add a feature which lists which styles I have had? I would be interested to see how the styles get ranked such as ipa, dbl ipa, stout, porter, geuze, farmhouse, etc.
US States / Countries: same thing. Which states countries have i “visited” and where do I need to go based upon popularity or rarity.

    Thanks in advance ...
Working hard to regain my exalted status, beer in hand, one beer at a time.

That's been asked for many times. Iirc, that's something that could be implemented down the road. I reckon that it's not an easy feature to add, though.

Being I'm interested in diversity as well as good beer, I'd like that information to be easily available too, but I'd actually prefer it as a list of styles I haven't had. Same with the states and countries, I'd prefer lists of those in the database that I haven't yet had a chance to "visit" or to be able to find a beer brewed there.

When you go to "Beer Styles" and choose a style, there is a line at the top that shows you how many of that particular style you've reviewed.
I know that's not exactly what you're looking for but it may help if you need the info today.

Same if you look at the top beers in each style.

I'm a big numbers geek. I would love to have my own top lists for each state, country, and style. Also an average score of beers I reviewed from each brewery.

Yes, this. I'm more interested in what I haven't had yet, especially since I'm down to my last ten or eleven styles.

I think it would be most helpful to the site if the Sort by Style function displayed the results within each style in rank order by rating. Right now they appear random.

For example, try to quickly find the most highly rated IPA's of a Top Rater with 4000+ reviews. Once you Sort by Style, you'll need to scroll through 20 pages of IPA's trying to pick out the highest ratings. This effort usually gets abandoned along the way, leaving this valuable resource mostly unusable on the site.
