A buddy from Alaska is coming home (to my town) for Thanksgiving and wants to know if I have beer requests. Besides several of the Alaskan Brewing products I've only had Anchorage Brewing Rondy Brew and Midnight Sun Sockeye Red IPA. Any recommendations from the great state of Alaska? Thanks in advance.
Dude, Midnight Sun is one of the best breweries on the planet! The beer you mentioned is, i think , among the least of their offerings. They make great beers in many styles. Whatever styles you like, find what they make and try to get some of those, I'd doubt you'd be disappointed. I coudl make a list but ive the twenty or so Midnight Sun beers i had it hought almost all were great. Just go to their webpage and look around And Anchorage is also great (though new and with fewer offerings). Kassiks, Moose's Tooth (growlers only i think), Denali also make nice beers. An Alaskan's seasonal and specialty beers are quite nice as well.
He's mentioned Moose's Tooth several times. I told him I want it if he can manage it. He's a fan of Denali as well.
Brewtality and Berserker have pretty much vanished around anchorage. There is pretty much everything from Anchorage Brewing available on the shelves as well as T.R.E.A.T and Trickster from M.S. that would be great Thanksgiving brews oh yeah and Alaskan smoked porter and baltic porter are also honorable mentions.

Kassik's Brewery bottles. Look for their Caribou Kilt Scotch Ale. Kenai River Brewing does cans. Their Sunken Isle IPA is great. Second the votes for Midnight Sun and Anchorage Brewing. Coho Imperial IPA from the former and Galaxy White IPA from the later.
Midnight Sun Brewtality was still available at the brewery as of 10/31 Other seasonal Midnight Sun around Anchorage: TREAT, CoHoHo Anchorage Brewing Co on the shelf this week: Galaxy, Love Buzz, Whiteout Wit (Bitter Monk if he's a good hunter) Alaskan: Baltic Porter, Smoked Porter Mooses Tooth is now Broken Tooth which has a few offerings in cans now. That should make for a good shopping list for your buddy.
