Noticed CUB and through the rise of the 'Rechs appreciation society', have released the Reschs Real Lager earlier this year. Apparently it's a re-release of the 80s and 90s lager that was discontinued in 2000 or around then. My question is, is that the Resch's Real Bitter that's here on BA Reschs Real Bitter Beer | Carlton & United Breweries, Ltd. | BeerAdvocate - and they've relabeled it, or is it a different beer? Will try to pick up some when I find it. I'm fond of Resch's silver bullets as a good lawn mowing beer.
I assume that's the beer they're recreating, even though they now call it a lager. The packaging and name is totally different, as you note, which raises the question of why they'd do that, given the Resch's Appreciation Society was advocating for the old beer and would have jumped all over one with the original name and packaging. I assume it's modern drinking sensibilities, negative connotations of the word "bitter", and the need to move units that led to the name change (like 4 Pines Kolsch versus 4 Pines Draught). They're obviously targeting more drinkers than the blokes from the Society. Regardless, the new packaging (top picture below) seems unnecessarily modern to me. So, to get to the chase, I'd create a new beer on the database with the new specs and naming convention so that the modern version has its own entry. Cheers!
