it is still 12 oz.... you aren't technically losing anything, but it is pricey for what it is

It is almost a shame that FFF is tied to tightly to Dark Lord and not their hoppy beer. Zombie Dust is a top tier APA, I do not go as far as saying the others are top tier but will say they are damn good. They do better than most with the hops.

I thought 2XIPA was too fruity, but I enjoyed it. Big A was more grapefruit and pineapple forward. Very good beer. Is Stone IPA a close as you can get to Heady?

    Great analysis.

Throw Columbus Bohdi in a can and it gets my vote as a more than adequate replacement.

it was just muddled and the yeast profile was bad for me, and not bitter enough for what it was.

hate to bash a brewery (especially sixpoint since they get an inordinate amount of hate for some reason), but this.

    resin's nothing special. heady's a perfected beer.

Yeah...there's really no comparing the two. I haven't had any Pliny, nor have I done a side-by-side with Heady Topper, but fresh Gandhi Bot might be able to convince you that you've broken into the upper echelon of DIPAs.

Well you see, Heady has a lot more hype and Resin has none. Heady all the way.

Heady has a unique hop-oil flavor. The Citra/Simcoe they use have notes reminiscent of spent diesel fuel. I absolutely love that beer. The aroma is like someone smoking hop resin in a bong.

Can't really comment on the comparison, never had Heady. Not sure if I want to honestly (ok, fuck yes I do) because there is no way in hell it's as good as most people make it out to be, although I'm sure it's outstanding.

But I do want to comment on Resin. It's not your typical hop smacking DIPA, but there's something about the beer I actually really enjoy. When our stores first got it in I'm pretty sure the cans were at least 5 months old (didn't know at the time the best by date is something like 9 months out), and I thought it was great. The malt may have made the beer for me (not typical for the style obviously), but I thought it was really good. Recently got some more in that's a lot fresher, and I don't enjoy it nearly as much (and yes, I am a bonafide hop head FWIW).
Come to think of it is Resin even considered a DIPA? Just checked a can and the box and don't see anything saying it is. Not sure it should even be compared to other DIPA's...Anyways, for those who think it's garbage, maybe give it a try when it's not so fresh and don't judge it from a DIPA point of view. You may be pleasantly surprised. Pretty solid beer IMO.

    Resin was pretty good...

But Heady Topper is, well, Heady Topper...

And Heady Topper should be a beer style all it's own...

And this will complete my series of broken sentences.

I like Heady and Pliny better, but Resin is by no means bad and I can get it rather easily. I still have a hard on for one of the first DIPAs I ever had, Double Jack. Never see it mentioned during these Heady, Pliny, etc. sword fights.
