HT isn't rare, it's not scarce, it's not particularly expensive, it's just marooned in VT. If you lived in NE you could drown yourself in the stuff, which I just might do. Can't wait till my son is stationed in Ft Drum, I'll have a steady supply and a trip to Alchemist and Hill when I go visit.

They've been sending some out further, NY and PA got some, I can only hope for the day when HT is available all over the East Coast.

(would also be nice to have some more trade fodder.)

Heady Topper lives up to the hype and is just a perfect IPA. I bought 2 4-pks of Resin and gave 7 cans away - I just didn't get it.

Given how well the distribution to Philadelphia went, I wouldn't be surprised to see more of it in the future - that was one great week to live in the Philly area!

My son is getting stationed in Ft Drum in Sept, he's Air Force being deployed to the 10 Mt Div. I'll have a steady supply by then and I'll hook you up, probably visit him by Thanksgiving and a visit to Alchemist and Hills. I'll keep you informed, I already laid out his mission to supply me at will.

I appreciate the offer, I would never pass up a chance at Heady. If all goes well with Operation Heady you should be a very happy man

It's about a four hour drive each way IGITBB, so it depends how much free time he has and how much he loves hops

I just doulbe checked my reviews of each... While I agree HT (4.38) > Resin (4.03), I don't understand a lot of disrespect that Resin is getting... I think HT allows the hops to shine more, but Resin has the heavy malt base that I personally prefer in DIPAs... Everyone is entitled to their opinion and while I agree that HT is the better of the two, I think many are doing a disservice to Sixpoint and Resin...

NOPE! Resin is without a doubt the best that Sixpoint has to offer, but it's no where near Heady. Heady is Janis Joplin... horrific to look at, but what's inside... is the best there is.

I can't stand that beer. It's well made and all, but I just don't like Summit bombs.

As for Resin... somebody mentioned it earlier in the thread, but I think calling it a DIPA is a stretch. The malt is actually very interesting in that beer, and I really like it for that, but it is definitely not what you'd expect from a DIPA. I'd just call it more of a generic American Strong Ale with some IPA characteristics, but ultimately it doesn't feel like any more or less of an IPA than something like Arrogant Bastard IMO.

And to the question in the thread - no, Resin is neither close to Heady in quality or profile. It is a good beer though.

Maybe someone double dog dared him to make this claim?
Resin doesnt hold a candle to Topper.

    Cheers!

As a fellow bronx resident I would say you should look for Capt. Lawrence imperial ipa. I've had heady and CL side by side and I much prefer the CL. By a lot actually....and since its local its usually pretty fresh.

Who is the "them" and "they" you are talking about? Your local beer store?
Some posters need a few ESOL classes...

The OP chose a poor subject line and at least half the people responding to the thread didn't bother taking the 30 seconds to read what he actually wrote. Seems a common occurrence.

The OP said someone (doesn't really matter who) told him that, based on customer feedback, Resin is greater than or equal to Heady, and then asked for peoples' opinion on that claim. I think the subject line is accurate and most people in the thread got that right.

I don't get that. My case has no floaties, maybe that's a trend now. The beer (minus the floaties) is gorgeous. It looks like nectar from a fruit that is yet to be discovered, but will convince small children that candy isn't tastier than fruit.

Do I need to put Resin to the right of Pliny in my avatar?

Resin is mediocre at best IMO. Heady is world class. To each his own I suppose but I bet if you served Heady and Resin in a blind tasting, Heady would win 8 times out of 10. The two who chose Resin don'thave tounges.

My last few cans of HT hasn't had the floaties either. Can't decide if I miss them or not yet. There are 4-5 local DIPA's better than Resin and I live in Iowa. That should end the debate.
