I don't disagree, actually. I should have been a little more specific in my comment, something along the lines of this type of situation is the biggest thing that sucks about the current beer scene. But it's the hoarding/muling/I'll trade this 4 whaelz bro part of the culture that I simply cannot stand.

I respect this position, but don't agree. Just because you can do something, doesn't mean you should. I've walked into stores countless times where there are "rare" beers sitting on the shelf, and there is no limit...do I grab them all because I can? No, I'll buy one or two and leave the rest for someone else to discover, purchase, enjoy. I agree that the brewery should have instituted bottle limits, and there is much to blame them for, but that doesn't excuse just plain greed.

I'm not sure where we disagreed. I don't condone what these guys did or defend what they did. I neither have the income nor the desire to load up so much beers. I'm the kind of guy that has sworn to myself if the guy in line behind me ever got shutout, I'd offer to share my allocation with him. I brought a beer to a trade at a Tired Hands bottle release. The guy wanted the beer got shutout so I just sold him the bottle at cost. I simply think it's impossible to expect everyone in the world is about sharing the wealth. We as "advocates" and breweries should know that and act accordingly. Addressing the root causes will fix the problem, lamenting the symptoms won't.

Perhaps I mistook the "blaming the symptom instead of the cause" part of what you wrote as saying that the people who did it shouldn't be blamed, just the other factors (trading, lack of bottle limits, whatever). I may have implied something into that when I shouldn't have. Otherwise yes, I think we agree. It just drives me bonkers...
