Hey everyone, I need some suggestions on a restaurant that has some great food and a great tap list with local options such as Kane and Carton. Nothing fancy but good atmosphere, food and beer choices on tap. Maybe something that leans family friendly because we'll have a 3 year old and my new born with us. So, hit me with it. Thanks!

Don't usually go "out" when I'm down there, but I was dragged to Harpoon Willy's (on the Manasquan River, off rt. 70) for lunch one day with a bunch of people and was happy to see a pretty nice tap line-up. Don't see it listed here on BA or an easily accessed taplist on their own kinda worthless website ("LOCAL COOL BAR" - yeah, OK ), but here's a "Taplist" page for them which shows their having a number of Kane and Carton beers on tap in the past. http://taplist.at/HarpoonWillys-Manasquan/

Can't comment on the food since I don't recall it - so it's probably just typical of that sort of establishment (i.e., not "Great").

The Spot is a burger/pizza place with a good beer selection. and right next door is a spirits unlimited.

Harpoon Willy's does have good food (had my company work party there) and some good local beer options such as carton and Kane.

Other than that, most places I have been to have either good food and no or not good beer or good beer and no or not good food.

I know it may be a little far, but maybe wanna go to Brickwall Tavern in Asbury Park, NJ? It can be busy, but the food is great, selection is fantastic, and cookman ave during the day is alot of fun for a family.

However, Harpoon Willy's food is pretty good...nothing crazy (had their Crabcake burger that was decent).

The Spot might be a great bet in Pt. Pleasant, plus you could do a lil beer shopping before/after at Spirit's right behind the Spot.

    Thanks for the suggestions.

I'd also be fine with surrounding areas. 15-30 min drive for a great place is fine.

I live in Brick and work in Point Pleasant. Good draft list around here is such a issue. As aboves stated. Those are your best bets for a "decent" draft list. Harpoon's usually have either a Kane or a Carton on rotation. everything else will be basic craft and standard BMC. The Spot usually better tap list but food I think is kinda ehh unless your after pizza and burgers.
If you wannna drive to Asbury Park. Brickwall Tavern usually good list, can check it on their FB page. Or haven't been there yet but looks cool also in Asbury is Asbury Festhalle & Biergarten.
Its newer so will probably be mobbed and suck trying to get into. Also they have a mostly import draft list from my understanding.

Not sure what you're coming down for but within 20 minutes or so is Brickhouse Tavern right next to the Jersey Shore outlets. Tap list is solid but the prices are what I find to be ridiculously good. Food is really good, some open air tables and tons of tvs so it's very fsmily friendly.
