Going from anecdotal experience, bottle prices aren't usually 4 times the retail cost. On average, I'd say they're about 2 times retail. The last bottle I bought was Supplication at the Daily Pint for $25. Average price on the shelf in SoCal is $13.

I agree with this. It's not going to kill anyone to drink a Boston Lager or, gasp, water.

There are other, much better, options if you're in the Five Cities area and looking for craft beer. HotShots and Boardroom in Pismo, and even the newer Shell Beach Brewhouse. And honestly, in a place where we can get really fresh Double Jack from Firestone, it's especially dumb to try to price Pliny that high.

We actually have quite a nice thing building here on the coast.

We discovered that a couple weeks ago when we went up for Zin Fest in Paso, Pismo is awesome regardless but the craft options were a pleasant bonus.

    Cheers

This isn't the type of place I'd find myself in everyday. As such, I can only imagine I'm there (in Shell Beach) while passing though or for some sort of special occasion or while on a special drive up the coast and in that case I'm spending $20 to drink a Pliny with my wife. It's her favorite beer, it's one of my favorite beers, and it's not often you find a non-craft beer centered place to drink a Pliny while eating a nice dinner. Overpriced? Yes, I admitted that. But I know if we'd be sitting there shaking our heads at having passed up a Pliny for a Sam Adams over $6 (two $7 Sam Adams vs. one $20 Pliny--after that, I'm drinking iced tea). It's not like I'm not putting back 3 Pliny's at that price. If this were my everyday place then obviously I ain't having it. Keep rolling out the examples and websites, I'm telling you what I'd do in that situation (and therefore I am 100% right ).

    Whatever, cheers!

pot, meet my friend the kettle. disproportionate trade demands are not confined to certain geographical areas, sadly they seem rather ubiquitous

been here many times while in the area with my wife. it's a good stop for lunch on the outside deck when the weather is nice. beer options are typically basic firestone walker and maybe a tap from figueroa. there's also a sorta fun wave for surfing out front for those that care about that.

There are options for craft beer on the central coast. A resort hotel for tourists is not one of them.

Also spotted Pliny at a local sandwich shop in SLO last week for $16. I think they had Blind Pig marked up to $10 or $12 and Sanctification for $16. Needless to say I passed and had my first Crooked Stave.
