I get that people are bummed about the loss of stylistic diversity here, but I don't see Long Trail as the type of brewery that can really afford to be behind the times. Say what you will about the merits of the english IPA, it's a niche product these days, and that's just not the business that they're in.

Well I stopped by the brewery today. Apparently they aren't aware of any discontinuation of their signature unfiltered "English" IPA in favor of another. And they say it remains one of their largest sellers.

Double Bag has to be way more popular than the IPA.

Luckily, Berkshire Brewing apparently is, so Lost Sailor IPA is still available.

Reading Lost Sailor reviews you can occasionally spot reviewers who've presumably arrived at craft beer in fairly recent years, while "English-style" IPAs have been in comparative eclipse. Much bafflement ensues.

Outside of their seasonals, this beer is the worst selling at my store. We have done away w 12pks, then seasonals, then survival mix, theyre doing me a favor. I dont think much of them. Waste of cooler space to me but in MA you pretty much need to have it. Thanks LT

Something tells me Mr. Gerhart was involved in the naming of that beer
