They're not too responsive via email (if at all), so I can't blame him.

I honestly would have any idea about returning beer. I know their cool in there and could see then doing it but I also can see why they wouldn't as well.

I also think the age of said case in question would make a serious difference in weather or not there is even a chance they may take it back.

Also I don't see how contacting them and asking them about it would ruffle feathers in any way. Its a simple question, as long as you don't call screaming and demanding stuff or something like that. Its not like you calling them saying "hey your beers shit you brewery sucks....give me my money back...."

There is more of a chance feathers would get ruffled by calling them out in a public forum I would imagine. Not saying that's what your doing here.....

They have obviously have not tried getting a hold of people there - It's not that easy. On my last trip I called 3 days in a row and got no one. I don't blame them though. If I owned my own bar I might not answer the phone sometimes.

And really?? Calling them out???? You must be a super sensitive guy. Not sure how you can read 98% of BA threads without thinking there is something foul going on.

Love Kuhnhenn's - maybe my all time favorite brewery. At least top 3

Still haven't told us which beer it is that you're concerned about...

See...I never said you were calling them out...in fact I think I specifically said I didn't think you were doing that. I have seen it done before though and it usually doesn't end pretty. What I was saying is that the questions your asking here you could ask them and it shouldn't bother anyone.

No though Ive never tried to contact them. If I want to talk to them I just go there

Thing is we can all sit here and try to guess what they will do, but only they will be able to tell you for sure.

It sucks you cant get a hold of them...maybe try during the day or something when it may be slow. Otherwise all you can do I suppose if bring the beer with you the next time you come throw it up on the bar and hope for the best lol.

I do agree too though they are a fantastic brewery.

Tough to get ahold of or not, the only way to get a straight answer would be to speak with someone there directly. If you are only there a couple times a year then you likely have time to wait on a response (or work for one). Otherwise just bring the beer with you next time you are there.

Any brewery worth their salt ought to at least seriously hear out your complaint; ideally trying to make amends in replaced beer/refund/etc.

If you're cordial and calm about the inquiry, I'd wager you get a favorable response.

Ultimately, I don't think the best approach is to start a thread on BA claiming their beer is infected. Even though you said that you love their beers, you have to realize that you are essentially bad-mouthing Kuhnhenn with a thread like this.

I know that wasn't your intention, but I'm just giving you some honest feedback.

I must have been into the same batch...12 oz bottles of the first beer that ever got me to buy a growler. And they were rotten as hell.....then again, with the emerging sour stout trend perhaps I should have saved them.

Mind you, the OP never said he has an infected beer. He words it as a rhetorical question..."IF a bought a beer, and it WAS infected, WOULD they refund?" Does he or does he not actually have infected beer?

Technically true, but it still would be worth giving them a call/email/visit/anything else but posting on BA about it.

I used to work in a major grocery store chain in Michigan years ago, and we were not allowed to take back alcohol for return by law. Not sure how it work for breweries. I would suggest calling the brewery and nicely explaining that you would gladly and discretely exchange a unfortunate bad batch for a good one. They make a ton of great stuff, so I think if you keep it positive, they'll take care of you.

I would think a brewery would be different. Im not saying they would break the law, but I could totally see them giving someone a gift of new beer and then offering to get rid of the old beer lol

Khuhnhenn's rocks. Bring in the case, and ask if you can trade it for something else. They still get your buisness, and you still get their beer. Sounds reasonable.

Edit: I didn't realize this was all hypothetical. Yeah, calling out Khuhnhenn's or any brewery here is probably not a good idea or even relevant. When you're there to buy the beer, ask them about that possible scenario and do what you want from there. Being a small brewery, they'll probably know about the infection, otherwise have them try a bottle to help explain why you think it's infected. At the end of the day, it's all about being reasonable, and getting a return for a bad product is good buisness on any companies part.
