I have to give a shout out to Reuben's Brews given that they took 3 more medals (all silver) in the world beer championships for their robust porter, imperial oatmeal stout, and dry stout. They now have 6 medals out of 6 entries. I was at the brewery earlier today, and for the first time I sampled the robust porter, imperial oatmeal stout, and imperial rye ipa. They were all impressive. Full disclosure: I knew Adam before the brewery and was the happy consumer of some early batches. Because of that I have held back on pimping him on BA, but I think the fruits of his labor speak for themselves. Anyone else in the Seattle area been to the brewery outside of those who have already posted reviews?
Never been to the brewery but have been drinking his imperial oatmeal stout at beveridge place for the past two nights! Just as good if not better than my fav stout: founders
I like that he is brewing many different styles too, including a RIS that was tapped last month I think. He has it aging in two Heaven Hill barrels as well. Now we're talking! He has plans to do some limited bottling this year too. Sounds (gasp) kind of rare?
Really like everything I've tried from Reuben's. And the tasting room is an awesome spot, very relaxed.
I was at Reuben's earlier today. I really do think they're the best new brewery in Seattle. The Imperial Rye IPA is outstanding, and their Roggenbier doesn't get enough love. Can't wait to try the BA RIS in April. Another thing about Reuben's that's awesome is how approachable and inviting Adam and Mike are. I've never met a brewer as nice and willing to talk to you as Adam is, you can really tell that he truly loves his craft, and loves to share it with people, it's refreshing. I go to a lot of breweries and it seems like more often than not the vibe you get from the brewers is something like "oh I'm too cool to talk to you" or "I'm glad you like the beer, but please never talk to me again, you're not worthy" I'm so grateful that I live walking distance to Reuben's.
Been to Reuben's several times and have met Adam every time I've been there. He's a great guy with a great business. I look forward to watching it grow and prosper in Seattle as well as enjoying the beer!
We get a lot of small batches from them and I've been impressed with almost everything. They made a rye pumpkin beer that was mighty tasty.
I guess I'll have to try the porters and stouts. I've had the American Rye, Imperial IPA, and Imperial Rye IPA and I haven't been impressed with any of them. I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, though.
Glad you're giving them a chance! They've won 6 medals in the past 5 months since they opened in August 2012. These medals are a token of the industry's confidence in the quality of their brewing in the overall marketplace.
yeah the only time i've gone there i ended up with a growler fill of the Roggenbier. Such a tasty take on a hefeweizen. i'm not even a fan of hefs at all, but that one is quite unique.
