Hey! They built a wall between themselves and Darrington, didn't they?

I grabbed a six-pack of Motueka Crush cans today at opening, kinda surprised the limit was a full case with not very much available.

How are they tasting? I'm not sure I've ever had a beer featuring motueka.

Four Winds in BC does a Pilsner with Motueka if I remember right. And I like that beer a lot.

Just cracked a can. Light body with real nice white peach and melon notes.

The juice is loose in Ballard.

FWIW, the few Motueka beers I've had, have been solid beers, but, that may not be my hop. I enjoyed them overall, but, they really didn't push my buttons. Strokes fer folks, grains of sand, Yadda yadda......

Ahh, Four Winds. I've had the classic pilsner, the girlfriend really likes it. Can't remember anything notable.

Cool. Just read the hop description and I'm intrigued. I'll have to try it... for science.

I was there and grabbed a couple sixers. I cracked one tonight, and I can't put my finger on it: There was some traditional Japanese confection I had that tasted exactly like this - super mellow, slightly sweet. I've got two sixers to go through, so I should come up with the name of it by then. (Or it's just this damn cold I've caught, meaning I'll re-read this post a week later thinking, "What the hell was I typing about?")

All in all, the nose was awesome, living up to that ruby red grapefruit description, plus some floral notes that weren't familiar to me. The flavor was a little tropical, but not super grapefruit. Clearly, I need to try more. For science.

Oohhh just remembered Holy Mountain did a K&C batch with motueka. I remember not really digging it, but it also had waimea. Fingers crossed for a waimea crush :astonished:

Azuki! I had two more tonight, and it hit me. Azuki is the flavor I caught, which is Japanese sweet red bean paste. To confirm I wasn't going crazy, I had my wife (who is from Japan) try it, and she agreed. It tastes good. Just unexpected is all.

Picked up a six pack and it's not really blowing my hair back. Would be better in hot weather, I think, given the super light body and floral notes.

Fruit Crush is stupid good. Ended up drinking about 2/3 of that growler on Xmas Eve, my relatives didn't seem to care. Oh well!
