I have a beer that's ready to be bottled atop a nice looking WLP630 cake. I have read at times that you shouldn't reuse wild yeast blends simply because the ratio of bugs to ale yeast are out of whack from the production ratios.

Anybody actually have experience in pouring new wort on top of a yeast cake such as this? If so, what was your experience?

Yes, the second and third generations of the beer turned out better than the first.

By the time it came around to the 4th generation, I stopped using it because it became too brett heavy with a cracker-like or dusty feel to it.

I have done it. The second batch ended up much more sour which is what I was hoping for. I ended up blending the two batches.

I thought this might be the case, and am happy to hear it! What ABV did you come in at the second round? Also, how long did you mature it?

    cheers

It was 3.9% and I let it sit in secondary for 6 months.
