Picked up a Revolution Deth's Tar last night at Binny's Naperville. Wasn't boxed up, just sitting in the case with 11 others on the floor. All the pictures other people have posted online have the traditional red box.

Anyone else seen this or know why?

Haven't seen it around yet. Interested in hearing how it tastes compared to last year's batch...

I bought a bottle at the Naperville store yesterday afternoon too. When I was checking out, they noticed that the barcodes on the boxes didn't match the barcodes on the bottles. The boxes were ringing up as Ryeway to Heaven.

Do they bottle Non BA Deths Tar and BA Deths Tar? I ahve always bought it in the red box.

The base of Deth's Tar is Alderaan, never been bottled to my recollection.

I'm sure it's just me, but I've always felt this beer is incredibly overrated. Extremely one dimensional -- all barrel with not much else going on.

I just split a 2014 last weekend at a halloween party and it tasted pretty solid to me.

Definitely not saying there's anything wrong with it, just that most other BA stouts are much more complex. Just doesn't seem to justify the ratings this gets. Like I said, probably just not my thang.

I thought it was good on draft, but pretty boozy and one dimensional. Aged one a year and liked it less.

At $14.99 each I got one and will try it fresh - thanks for the advice!

The first of many bottles to be had this stout season. Well balanced chocolately goodness with just the right amount of bourbon heat. Here's to hoping Cafe Deth finds it's way into bottles this year.

I'm guessing they took the bottles out of the boxes then. I bought mine last night after work.

Agreed. They've had much better barrel aged brewery/brewpub only one offs (including Cafe Deth, as another poster mentioned), kind of frustrating that this is what they've landed on for a yearly bottle release.

I'm also hoping for a return to form for Bean Gene this year... seems like they used crappy and/or 2nd use barrels for the 2014 release.

Ever since I had my first drop of Cafe Deth, I have been praying for it to reappear especially in bottle form. I am probably in the minority, but I would take Cafe Deth over BCBS and KBS any day.

I've never seen it sold without the box but as long as it's actually what it says it is I'm sure you'll be fine.

Never had this, so was looking forward to it when I heard it was releasing. It sounds like I might want to just buy one bottle to test it out before buying anymore.

I'm sure this had been discussed before, but why haven't they made BA Baracus again? Or have they, and I've just not seen it?
