Not sure if this is the right spot from for this proposal, but I would be in favor of revising the Regional Forums. For example, the Midwest forum is about 90% Minnesota talk. While I love the Land of 10,000 Lakes and their beer, I fear that any questions about other states get buried and ignored. If I were new to the site and wanted to ask a question about Omaha, I probably wouldn't ask it because the forum appears to be entirely about MN.

Please, do not read this post as a slight to Minnesota. It has a very large metro population and a strong beer culture. Maybe Kansas, Nebraska and Missouri could split off and leave Iowa, the Dakotas and MN in another. I'm sure there are other regions that could be splintered into smaller forums.

Just a thought. I've wondered if others have noticed similar patterns of one or two states dominating a regional forum?

Damn Texans have hijacked the Southwest Forum. Frikkin' Longhorns.

We've wanted Northern Idaho added to the NW forum for a while. It's easier to just use whole states, as compared drawing separate groups. But yeah, it would make sense to separate the the Great Plains from the upper Midwest. Ohio is in the midwest, and it's a long way from Omaha.

I have noticed the same thing about the Midwest forum. I suspect a lot of the regional Missouri traffic goes to stlhops and craftbeerkc so I'm not sure just how much this will help, though I like the idea.

Yeah, I know stlhops and craftbeerkc are great place to discuss Missouri stuff, but I just fear someone new to BA may not know that and feel overwhelmed by the Minnesota heavy Midwest forum.

There used to be city-specific forums for Boston, New York, Chicago, and some others. Bringing those back may address part of the issue.

I agree with you. The Great Lakes region is nearly all chicago, everything else is drowned out

I know. I was prepping for a Wisconsin trip last year and noticed that.
