How do you all compare cellared beer to when it was fresh? I don't review beers very often, just give them a quick rating. I drank a 2011 three philosophers today and while I think it was fantastic I can't remember what it tasted like fresh. Do you typically repurchase the beer fresh and have them side by side to see any subtle changes that may have happened?

Keep a notebook, keep a spreadsheet, review the beers on here...whatever works for you. You could buy one fresh, but that won't always work (limited releases may not be around, recipes may change, and so on).

I use rate beer. I use the notes function to give a detailed description of when I drink the beer fresh that I can look at once I go back and cellar dive.
