Depends on how bad it was, some beers I just know I would not like again. If it was borderline and maybe one thing I did not quite like then sure I would try it again.

I almost always get at least two bottles when I buy singles ( unless it's pricey ). It's not so much about second chances, but controlling the variables as much as possible. And the sensory ones aren't the only ones to contend with - sometimes you have to overcome the preconceived notions as well.

Depends, sometimes I end up not enjoying a beer the first time because I just wasn't in the mood for the style, but drank it anyway because it was what was available at a gathering. If I think that's the case then I will give it another try.

Some beers have been revisited, but some have not, probably because the opportunity has not arisen to try them again Most of the revisited beers were still not to my liking.

Generally yes, provided it's not some off-the-wall creation involving something like "doughnuts". It could be the batch or the age. Other times, as mentioned above, that beer all alone is much different with a bit of the right food. We'll go with brewery, where a good reputation goes a long way. Two times, though, is it. No three strikes here, buddy.

I only do when it's rather a highly rated beer I didn't enjoy and its easy to get, or if it's a style I didn't enjoy when I tried it but I now enjoy.

If it's something where I think it was either me being too ambitious at the time (like a high IBU beer when I could barely stomach IPAs at all) or where the conditions might not have been right (past it's best by date, could have been infected, etc) then I'm keeping tabs of them all and plan on giving them another shot in the future. If it's something where I see no reason that it wouldn't have been the "true" experience of the beer, then nah, I'm not going out of my way to try it again. I wouldn't be averse to drinking another one if I stumbled upon it, but I won't track them down.

I'll give it until the six pack is gone. If I don't like it by then, it ain't happening.

    Depends on several factors.

How much I disliked it and why -- was it old/clashing with the food I had it with/a bad batch and not so great due to that? (Dos Equis Ambar is, I suspect, in this category -- it definitely had that "this beer is clashing with your food" taste to it when I had it, and I'll be trying it again without that particular food in the future to see if that's what the issue was.) Was it just not that impressive overall? Was it not what I expected and seemed bad due to failing to live up to those expectations? Or was it something just plain gross that I wanted to -- or did -- dump out (Foster's Ale... yuck!)

Also, how much of it I got to try before deciding I didn't like it (just a sample glass? sure, I'll have it again, maybe I just didn't have enough time to let it warm up or it's the sort of thing that's hard to fully appreciate in such a small quantity. A single bottle/can? Might try again depending on how bad it was and why, especially if I suspect it was old or had some other issue besides "the beer isn't one I'm going to like." A six-pack? or a twelve-pack, God forbid? Probably not getting a second chance.)

    That sort of thing.

There've been beers I was neutral-to-somewhat-positive toward the first time I had them, but then ended up liking them much more when I had them again after some time passed, so it's entirely possible a "yuck" or "ehh" could become a "hey, this is actually pretty good" too.

If I don't like it , I don't like it. 1, 6 or what ever, not a second chance, there's too many ones out there that I do like.

I am always willing to give a dud a second chance. However, I don't seek out those duds for a retry. If I'm out and see it on tap, or I need a 6th to fill a sixer, I'll consider it.

This does depend on what kind of dud it was. If it was a beer I sought out the first time and really wanted to try, I'm more apt to try it again. If it was a random beer I tried on tap once, I'm probably never looking at it again.

Most of the beers I've given a second chance and decided I really did like were initially tried as part of a mixed six-pack from potentially questionable establishments. Several stores I've encountered see this area of the storefront as the place that good beer goes to die. A few sixes on the shelves too long...off to the mixed area, harshly over-refrigerated, all old bottles. Not the place to sample new beers from, especially it that's your introduction to the style or brewery, as it's rarely pleasant (with some rare-ish enjoyable exceptions). Don't be too harsh on the brew when it's straight-up nearly frozen for a month after sitting on shelves for six.

The only dud I've revisited thus far is because I bought more than one. Which I've only done once with a beer by a hugely popular brewery that shall remain nameless. Other than that, I never revisit a beer that I dislike. Why bother? Why buy something I know I don't like when there is so much to try that I may like.

If something is mediocre and unremarkable it definitely deserves a second chance. If it's flat out horrid, then no second chance.

I'd say almost all beers deserve a second chance. One bad can, bottle or draft pour could be an aberration; any more than that is more often than not an indication of a problem, assuming one likes the given style to begin with. Personally, if I didn't give beers a second chance, I would have a very poor opinion of Westbrook Gose and my life would be terrible.

In this day and age (which sounds so strange given where things were 15-20 years ago), it's very difficult to come back around to something that didn't work out the first time around given how many choices there are. This is especially true (for me, at least) if it was six pack tried under a variety of circumstances or something that I didn't like that couldn't be explained by an "age" issue. Heck, I have hard time coming back around to the beers I enjoyed because of all the choices out there and always wanting to try something new.....

I had a similar experience with Victory Hop Ranch. The first time I tried it, I tasted a confusing cat-piss Sauvignon Blanc, like IPA. I was let down after some pretty decent hype. But I tried it again, and while I still picked up some Sauvignon Blanc like characteristics, I also got a lot more balance from other flavors that I normally enjoy like citrus and tropical fruit. I'm glad I revisited this beer, because I now love it. I'm still not sure what was going on the first time I had it

I'll give every dud a second chance except Ballast Point Indra Kunindra, I won't touch that shit again. I thought it was horriable. hahaha

I find myself doing the same thing much more nowadays. Used to be when I tried a new brewery I wanted the 'wow' factor...it had to explode with awesomeness in my mouth. Now I love trying really clean, solid beers that are good representations of style rather than the hoppiest or darkest. I recently revisited a bunch of MT standards and boy were they even better than I remembered. Inexpensive cans and great beer.
