I have two kids. If I brought them to something like this I would make sure to be ultra attentive to their needs. I can't imagine anyone is bringing their kids out in this heat without thinking ahead. If they aren't then call that shit out but the constant bellyaching over children being present in front of people at taprooms is out of hand.

Also have two kids... I'd just feel bad having them wait in a long line in a stroller for something they can't enjoy in uncomfortable weather

I hope you mean thinking ahead as in calling a babysitter. I don't know how anyone could honestly think of bringing their kids to stand in line at a beer release in this heat is okay, "thinking ahead" regardless. No it's not the Oregon trail, but it's a risk that shouldn't be taken for some schmuck to pick-up beer.

Back in my day, parents would have just left the kids in the car...

Waited in line as a baby in way worse conditions for expired Pepperidge Farms.

The risk for combustion goes up the smaller they are, true.

Wait, are we talking about kids or beer now? I definitely don't give my kids any lactose or fruit puree before I have them stand in a beer line with 100+ heat index. Risk of combustion definitely goes up.

Yay! Release day! That 12-24 hour window where every relevant thread is silent or full of complete nonsense until the folks having fun get back to their computers after a long day of waiting in line and drinking beer.

Admittedly, I wish I was one of those folks having fun right now...Hope you guys enjoy!

Great, all Candians way up north are going to remember this when someone bitches about it being dangerous to stand in a line at 20F below 0...
It feels like you're being a little optimistic about other people's parenting skills here, but yeah, I agree. If you're attentive it's cool. I just rarely assume the best of humanity, especially at beer events.

Back to matters of greater importance, are vsor and DBvsoj still flowing?

Based on Rev's social media, it looks like Honey sold slightly faster than Strawberry; how are people liking them?

If I remember correctly, there was just a lot less Honey for sale.

Just had a Strawberry Jacket...and I loved it. Strawberry jam, oak, leather, mild bourbon. I'm crazy about Straight Jacket and I like fruit beers in general, so I'm pretty much the target demographic for this beer. It didn't disappoint.

How was the tartness of the strawberry?

I went to Rev around 3pm just to enjoy some drafts. Saw that the line for cans actually wasn’t very long at that point. After 30 minutes, getting a free can of a test beer (Baby Hero), multiple offers of free water (I had my own bottle), I got my cans and headed to the taproom.

For a brewery that has scaled as much as Rev has, its amazing how much effort they put into making sure a release like this goes as smoothly as possible. From re-arranging the line to be in the shade, providing fans and misters, having 8 POS systems running, to providing free water and beer. As someone that went to their brewpub opening night, and have enjoyed and been disappointed by plenty of beers over the last 10 years, this release solidifies my respect for their business model and their future. And this is the first Rev release I’ve waited in line for. Kudos to Rev and the team. Superb release.

To me, it was more jam-like than the tartness of biting into a strawberry. Overall, it fit nicely into the barleywine vibe.

As for Honey Jacket...this was too sweet & boozy for my liking.

Don't get me wrong, it was drinkable & mildy enjoyable, but astringent alcohol & really strong honey notes overpowered the base beer for me.

If you love a really boozy barrel aged beer, I could see this being up your alley, but it was over the top for me.

I like how much people are split between Strawberry and Honey. I like strawberry and LOVE honey, my wife is the opposite. People I asked at the release and at Beer on the Wall yesterday were equally split
