Glad I stopped by, VSOJ is an incredible as it was the last time I had it. Really really liked the honey as well. The only other one I tried was the double barrel VSOJ which honestly I didn't think was very good. Not sure what was going on there but it seemed a lot different than the pour of VSOJ I had.

    Regardless, great event.

As wishy-washy as it sounds, this is one of my favorite things about Rev's barrel program--I can never anticipate what I or anyone else is going to like, which is a testament to the work they're putting into each beer.

...I hope something is left for tomorrow

You could REALLY taste the honey but for me it was far too sweet.

Strawberry on the other hand is incredible. Dry, fruity/jammy, but without bring cloyingly sweet. Amazing stuff. Kudos the Rev crew for somehow creating a new style: summertime barleywine.

Strawberry was the better of the two releases for me. I was surprised to see Honey sell out faster.

But VSOJ was the king of the draft list, just an unbelievable beer every time.

If anyone is going today and doesn’t plan on buying a Crowler, message me. I’d like to get one but can’t make it to the city until Monday.

VSOJ and Boss are gone. They don't seem happy about getting asked about it either

Honey was good and really sweet; it's a great addition to the butterscotchy taste SJ already has. With that said, if you like strawberries, I think Strawberry Jacket is the one; everyone I was with was impressed how the berries come through, and the jamminess was really unique.

Both are excellent, and Jumpy Juice is too, if you're in the mood for an intense NEIPA. Great stuff on still on tap today.

So the take away is that Rev can support a Deep Woods Stout release in the winter and then a Deep Woods Barleywine release in the summer going forth....

Changing strides here, but I thought I would pop in and share:

Opened my first Cafe Deth tonight since I first had one, abbbouuut 7 months back I want to say. It was shortly after release I believe.

Still coffee forward, nice and roasty, with a solid barrel kick. No unpleasant pepper after the first sip or two (I attribute that mostly to head that had not yet died down). I believe this has come into itself more since the release. Although not as bourbon forward as the straight BA stout, it has a nice barrel undertone that I get on the back end after every sip that is super pleasant, and I don't recall being there fresh. Perhaps just because the coffee has started to wane just a very small amount.

What risk are you even talking about? The risk of sweating? Posts like this are ridiculous.

You're a page late, man, the Great Battle of the Melting Infants was upstaged by discussion of various barrel-aged barleywines.

Where did they announce this or was it just on the menu? Just curious

I just stopped in at Noon when they opened hoping for more Strawberry Jacket. Saw some crowlers in the fridge and they slid me a list...bada bing, bada boom!

I guess the answer is I don't know if they announced it, I just lucked into it due to my unhealthy love of the Straight Jacket family.

Feel like there’s a market for Rev branded baby ware at these releases.

“Survived Midlife Crisis 2019” onesies and such.
