I don't think GI is doing multi year batches for regular, they don't make a barleywine any longer, and I doubt they do it for the ryewine. It's not advertised and if they did, I think they'd for sure let us know.

Tar is blended with multiple different years, and/or different barrels, I believe? I thought I remember @BeerCruncher saying something like that before the Tar release back in October. Not sure if GI is blending their regular or not.

Tar is absolutely a blend; mostly new, but at this point small portions are 3-4 years old.

    Yep. Had the same conversation.

GI blends batches/barrels/whatever you want to call it within the same year. If they have to option to charge more for a 2 year, they're going to do it and make it more exclusive.

This is slightly incorrect I believe. GI blends 8-14 mo barrels for the finished product I seem to recall reading. (Is that blending 12-48mo barrels? Nope. Just trying to be specific/accurate as to my understanding.)

I see what you are getting at. Thinking of other large brewers- doesn't Firestone Walker do multi-beer/age blends?

The Anniversary beers are blends of all the previous years barrel aged beers.

Hey @BeerCruncher , has there been any thought of doing a play on the old BCBW & aging Straight Jacket in 3rd use barrels that previously held Deth's Tar? Deth's Jacket has a nice ring to it!

If they do this you should get a case of it for having this brilliant idea.

Now-ish. We have a lot of distributors, so the answer varies depending on timing and logistics. It will sprinkle its way out there this week and next week.

Can we bury the tired stroller, kids in line, etc. conversation, starting....now?

Here, I’ll start: I recently saw someone selling a crowler of VSOJ that was filled in 2018 (according to the listing). Shouldn’t these crowlers be consumed within a reasonable amount of time?

Of course. They're definitely supposed to be drank ASAP, but if you're holding out for something special like the anniversary of when you took your kid to his first beer release in the winter, then you might want to hold on to it for longer.

I agree. I just had my last can of Vanilla Deth. It doesn't have a ton of vanilla flavor any more (there never was a crazy amount to begin with) - but still had great barrel flavor as a 1-year aged Deth's Tar with a little vanilla.

Those are a sign there is too much time to kill between Deep Woods releases.

YES - they offered me a 4pk of 2017 when I was there 4 weeks ago and it is so damn good.
It seems they got a shipment of several Deep Wood beers from 2017/2018, some of which that should not have got distro. I got 4pks of Mineshaft Gap (canned Jan '18) and Ryeway (canned December '17), missed on the sold out VSOR and VSOD, and passed on Deth by Cherries. (as @flat_lander knows, this shipment may have lead to the downstate rep for Rev being removed from his job?)

Someone (random fellow drinker) mentioned to me at the release that there would be a lot of "vintage" Deep Woods 4 packs hitting distro...any truth @BeerCruncher ?
