West Coast Hero is great by the way, I’ll be going back for much more. I don’t know how you got inside my head Rev, but thank you!

Good tasting on the Zoom tonight and I enjoyed my Deth’s Tar can. I’m interested in trying it next to a Thundertaker some time for BeerAdvocate science purposes

I have learned nothing from this thread ... Have drunk Deth's Tar and Maple Deth (yay Rev tasting zoom) so far ... we shall see if I open the cafe death ...

Ok, Deth's Tar is excellent this year. Its pretty much everything I want in a barrel aged stout. Lots of roasted malts, some chocolate and vanilla, a lots of barrel character - just amazing.

Maple Deth is good. Its balanced, and the sweetness is really restrained. But, its just not grabbing me - I vastly prefer Deth's Tar to this one. Not a knock on it, more a comment on how great Deth's Tar is ...

I wanted to attend that tonight, but alas, no Deth or Cafe here yet and didn't really feel like being the guy without his homework. Maybe tomorrow or early next week is what I heard from my local Binny's. They did tell me the BA syrup is also seeing distro.

Circling back to Thundertaker conversation from a while back. I did revisit one on a clean palate. I think it was @croush who said it has cuvee qualities happening and was definitely spot on. I ultimately had the same experience with this beer. It's good, but wasn't wowed by it. I think part of my initial issue is that I went into it with more of a stout experience expectation in my head for obvious reasons. But it drinks more like one of these stout/BW cuvees that you occasionally come across. Regardless, enjoyable beer. Also, please stop hyping up Deth’s Tar! You're killing me here.

Yea, my Binnys had the deep woods BA syrup, death's tar barrel aged syrup and a rum barrel aged syrup.
    No. Its phenomenal. Get hyped.

FYI - got three 4pks of DT last week, and already one is gone. It's pretty great.
Getting two more tomorrow at Binnys and will try and space them out a bit more.

This Revolution thread is up to 43 pages...at first I thought this meant that they are the most important Chicago brewery!

Then I remembered that I'm responsible for about 22 of them, and scaled it back to they are ONE OF the most important Chicago breweries. (And I'm insane)

Anyway, I know I'm going to keep buying mystery Deep Woods packs all winter, for 2 reasons. To support them during a rough time, and, more importantly, because I fucking love Deep Woods beers.

Thanks. I was still confused cause it showed 1300-ish points for me but I knew that couldn’t be right and verified by looking at my history. Apparently the 1500 reset level is the cause for that. I think it’s safe to say I’ve spent more at Rev than any other brewery around...wow. If I ever get booted from presale offers, there must be some people just signing over their paychecks to Rev.

I definitely liked Thunder more, but I want to see if it’s close or if there are more definable similarities/differences.

Zoom call was great tonight although my somewhat complicated question I submitted didn't get answered. But I learned a lot, which was super cool! Always love listening to both Marty and Jim talk. Seems like VSOJ was a landmark beer for Rev's barrel program and one they learned a lot from. Couldn't be more excited to continue to support this brewery.

I'm guessing there are a good number of people buying for 1-2 other people additionally to keep one person's rewards high. Seems like a good approach although with curbside online sales it doesn't really seem necessary (thankfully).

I just need to solo dome a 1/6 barrel keg of Deth's Tar to find out, I'm pretty sure...
