An 8 oz crowler?? That sounds like a crowler/carbonation issue. Mine had a nice head on it and was thick, but not what I'd call syrupy.

If it was one of those 8 oz "crowlers" a local bar by me uses (Barleypop), those have a screw top (probably just a 90 degree turn) that does not seal well at all. Cool to be able to get some limited stuff in 8oz to go but you need to drink it ASAP. I skipped getting Term Oil Fluffernutter in one of those yesterday because we wouldn't have been drinking it for 3 days and it's more of a less than 3 hour type container.

Yep BarleyPop. I opened the next day after purchasing so I was doubtful it was a crowler issue.

There was absolutely no carbonation. I was surprised though as I opened only a day after purchasing.

Well I’ll be ISO of a single can next time I’m in Madison so I can truly try this. The Apple Brandy intrigues me.

I've had a waxed, bottled TH barleywine that was completely, 100% still from the jump that most others said had carbonation, so it happens. But adding in that third party also adds risk.

Too bad I didn’t know ahead of time. Could have dropped off a can in Madison in my back and forth travels to CW today. Cans carry plenty of carb levels, more than you’d expect.

Deth Weaver is a BANGER. Smooth as hell, with a creamy mouthfeel. Flavors of dark chocolate, vanilla, oak & (surprisingly) mild bourbon. An undercurrent of dark cherry as it warms.

    Don't sleep.

It really seems like it was a crowler issue. The carb on apple brandy Ryeway is very interesting. It's a dense beer and the carbonation seems to almost struggle to release when you pour it. Mine have almost looked like nitro in the way they cascade. What you're describing seems different and the simplest explanation is the repackaging.

This was my exact experience with the can I had. I recalled someone mentioning it a ways back, so I was watching for it. Anyone know the science behind this one? Pretty neat.

Also, and not that anyone asked, but Ryeway '20 > AB Ryeway for me.

100% agree. I liked Apple Brandy Ryeway, but "regular" Ryeway has more depth to me. Glad I tried the variant, but along with Mixed Berry Ryeway, it's becoming clear to me that the original Ryeway (especially on when they nail it, and they nailed it this year) doesn't need to be messed with.

I just wish that they would not be $100 a can after people paid 50 for a 4pack. They go up online immediately and its dissapoimting if you are unable to make these releases due to the time they are

If your point is that people are awful, I fully agree.

    Can't blame Revolution for that.

People are going to continue to be awful.

Hope you're able to snag some cans from the source for a reasonable price this year!!

I just had Mixed Berry (thanks @flat_lander !) and AB this weekend, and both blew my mind in different ways.

Mixed Berry just had me totally floored as to how they packed so much berry flavor in such a beer, while it still had well developed but underlying barrel and ryewine components. The exhale was something else.

AB Ryeway was so much its own beast it may have been deserving its own name. That sucker was so thick, the way the head built so slowly then imposingly was insane. I couldn't believe it was still relatively clear once it all settled, because it felt so damn viscous. It's also the first apple brandy barrel aged beer I've had that actually imparted apple flavors like apple crisp and apple cinnamon oatmeal. I do agree that regular Ryeway has more depth, but AB is a whole other experience.

The ironic part is VSOJ has slowly gotten more expensive on the secondary, so the flippers that flip immediately sold their cans way short (I want to say they were flipping for $70-80 a 4-pack at release).

Paying $100 for a 12 oz can of anything is the ironic part, more or less a beer that is at this point approximately 2.5 years old.

Glad you enjoyed! Those Bodhi are long gone. Pairs well with smoking a brisket all day. The others will have to wait for another day...

Used my earned credit via Rev Rewards for a nice curbside pickup today. Called in the order yesterday so they could apply my credit and they had it ready to go - was there maybe 4 minutes.
AND picked up 64 points too since they count that as $$ spent - the email that was sent to me after shows the rewards balance. Great service!

Got to say I disagree with this. I found Deth Weaver to be a nice BA stout for sure but nothing special. Certainly not a bad beer but not one that stuck out to me.

Ok, so with the new updated system for Rev Rewards there is no way to see what I have earned because those points were not carried over, correct?

  20. DeadWax

    DeadWax Pundit (803) Dec 29, 2016 Illinois

The rewards were all cashed out for whatever points you had and it is applied to your account- if you hit the check balance link from the Rev email it sends you another email with the info where the rewards show up.

They are however carrying over the points for Fight Club Deep Woods 2021 based on how many accrued in 2019 and 2020. Says all points accrued in 2021 go towards Fight Club eligibility in 2022-23 Deep Woods releases.

TLDR: if you qualified for Apple Brandy Ryeway you will get in for Deep Woods 2021-22.
