Can’t compare to BCBS Cola, as I gave up GI due to the unionization issue, but I’m getting a LOT of caramel/vanilla sweetness and it reminds me of the kind of Cola that you might find at Whole Foods or the local co-op. It’s certainly not as sugary as your typical Coke/Pepsi/etc. Again, I think this can is better than the ones I had closer to release, which were overwhelmingly vegetal to my palate. Maybe the fading of coffee helped in this regard, but that runs counter to most of my experiences. If anything, I typically find that the green pepper notes tend to increase over time, but the opposite seems to be happening here. FWIW, mine have also been in the fridge since I got them. Not trying to argue on this, I’m glad yours were great. It’s more the case that I went from superdissapointed with (and actively avoiding) previous cans to “hmm, not too shabby.”

Wow - interesting notes on all of that. This is what I love about beer - you never know how it's going to hit your palate versus someone else. Also, the beer may change over time, and palates change as well. It all makes for great discussion.
Recently, I have noticed that foods are really changing how much I may enjoy a beer. It is clear desserts and candy really throw off the taste for me, even a small piece of chocolate. (shouldn't have those empty calories anyway, right? )
    Cheers!

I’d throw out any notes thoughts you may have for the next 3ish weeks if you’re covid positive. My pallet was all over the place.

We updated our draft system which is very exciting, as well as the TVs & Audio so that we were better equipped to show the Chicago Fire games. Here's some pics of the draft system: https://www.instagram.com/p/CaYhigNg8PE/

We’ve been tapping casks on most Fridays so yes! Next on the list is Paddy Wagon and Paddy Wagon w/Mint leaves. I’m also writing a blog post on Firkins as we speak!

I may as well mention that there were several 'Deep Wood' 4-packs 12-oz. cans on the shelf at Binny's Logan Square (Pulaski & Diversey){dammit} Wednesday. I did not espy Gravedigger Billy (which I would have bought), but a number of the other varieties.

Gravedigger Billy did not see distro.
The ones that hit distro are: Deth's Tar, Café Deth, Straight Jacket, Vanilla Deth, Ryeway to Heaven, and Maple Jacket.
Agreeing with @prior2two that these are still around the area, AND many available at the taproom and brewpub still as well.

Food definitely changes beer profiles for me. It's the primary reason why I usually don't drink while I eat (or eat anything while I drink). The exception are when beers enhance the flavor/experience. Nice light, crisp saisons are especially nice with greasy/fatty food (largely but not excessively due to carbonation, which is one reason why soda is served with that type of food). Lagers are a dream for me with Pizza. Some stouts pair well for me with some types of chocolate, but often it makes the beer taste like alcohol and not like whatever the stout actually tastes like. Lagers are also a great pair for me wit most sausages. Gumbo/much other cajun and lagers/wheats/ambers are a great pairing. Sometimes IPAs pair well for me where lagers do, but not always, and never if the hop/bitter is too aggressive. Sometimes a nice barleywine will pair well with a steak, but I'm firmly in the camp of "I want 3-4oz to enjoy with my meal" not "I'll drink the can".

Sharing experiences and differences is one of the major draws that bring me back to BA over and over again.

    Welcome back Unsessionable.
This years version is giving me Russian river vibes. It’s just damn good. It’s not going to wow you with aromatics, I get the sense it’s not that kind of beer. But everything after that is just a masterpiece. The balance, flavor, bitterness, dryness, linger, all of it is just top notch.
    That’s unsessionable to me.

I’m a 30 something year old man who used to love getting hammered on this beer. Now, I just appreciate how perfectly it’s constructed and what it means to the community

Quick trade with @galos11 this week and he dropped a couple of extras on me. One being this beer which I’ll wind down the evening with. When I opened the box and saw the can, it had me almost more excited for it than the bottles I had traded for. Thank you again Tim. Cheers!
