So parrots are the squirrels of the Caribbean?

For Prop '22 you have your pick of coconut, banana, lime, and pineapple. Any of those possible, or are we looking at a coconut reboot?

Don't worry, basically everything I read on this site is rubbing it in that I don't have access to much good beer anymore so it evens out some.

In a way, the parrots and parakeets both are really freaking loud at times.

Weirdly, the pineapple and limes would both be pretty tough to find growing locally. I guess I'll miss out on this particular Prop, which I think I'm ok with.

Looks like a new deep wood variant might be pouring? (According to IG)

This is correct (2020 batch). The BA sour Anthesis tastes like Buttered Popcorn Jelly Bellys, which I like (not necessarily in a beer) but different then expected.

Tasted the rye dunkel, pretty good. Have to return to Avondale (Major Beachwood drop at The Beer Temple) in the next few days and will order a full pour upon returning.

Liked the Sun Flower beer (Positive Light) and will grab another of those as well on my return.

I just can't keep track of these flash drops anymore, but thanks for the heads-up - I'll keep an eye out for that Beachwood!

Certainly not breaking any news here, but I've been drinking a lot less lately, and finally got to try the newest DW releases.

Wow, all three were absolute home runs. Each incredible in their own way but Coconut Deth is a special one.

Revolution collaborates with Garrett's Popcorn to make Caramel Crisp, a Caramel Popcorn Ale. https://localtoday.news/il/revolution-brewing-garrett-popcorn-launch-caramelcrisp-beer-2-40597.html

From the article: "Revolution added different sorts of popcorn to the brewing process. It considered different ingredients used in Garrett’s caramel corn. It tried sweetening the beer with various caramel flavors. It tinkered with about a dozen trials, but landed in a simple place: including Garrett’s caramel corn in the earliest step of the brewing process and adding a dose of brown sugar — and that’s it. No further caramel flavoring required.

The result, also called CaramelCrisp, begins to roll out Wednesday, with a broad release across Illinois by Oct. 1.

The packaging relies heavily on Garrett’s branding and language (the beer is called a “caramel popcorn ale” and described as having “creme brulee-like sweetness”), but if a drinker didn’t already know, he or she would be hard pressed to guess the key ingredient. The result is beer first and caramel corn novelty second. And that was the point.

An intensely sweet beer might be OK for a few sips, but few people would want 16 ounces of it, let alone a four-pack, Revolution’s head brewer Jim Cibak said. The sweetness is faintly there, and grows more evident as the beer warms from refrigerator temperatures, but remains entwined with the toasty malt."

I don't mind when breweries experiment. I mean, why should anyone care? Don't buy it if you don't want to try it. That said, I'm certainly not buying it.

I'm always perplexed by how divisive an experimental beer can be purely from the standpoint of whether or not it should have been made. I 'get' people being disappointed at something like the BCBS annual release if one of the new beers doesn't sound like their jam, but people's comments often go so far beyond disappointment.

Until they make a Chicago style hotdog beer with 1,200 pounds of Chicago style hotdogs in the mash, yawn.

I had the Garrett Popcorn collaboration brew.

It did NOT taste like liquified caramel popcorn, thankfully. It tasted like a well made brown ale! Caramel notes, yes, but not more than most brown ales, and I got a hint of raspberry as well (most likely my #trashpalate acting up, as there is none added to the beer).

There was a hint of salt on the finish, but it was far from overpowering...it just added balance to the brew.

Definitely worth trying, in my opinion.
