I can’t speak for everyone obviously, but most Rev locals/fanboys (me included) just don’t think Rev fits the profile of a brewery that needs or wants Tavour. I can’t really explain it, but there are certain breweries that you would never see on Tavour, and I thought Rev was one of those.

I suspect the best answer to the reason for this is that it allows Rev to keep the average price of beers down. To do that they need to sell large quantities of DT, SJ, and even some of the other popular DW beers that are a little more expensive, like Cafe and Ryeway. But the quantity they need to sell outpaces demand locally and within distribution. Tavour is almost like a separate market, because it targets many consumers that…well, the only way they get beer is by tavour, practically. (Not true universally, I suppose.) So, the uptake is probably near 100%, which is not true for just expanding your distro footprint.

This is just my take. I’m on the toilet, so let’s call it a hot take.

I also thought Rev was one of the breweries that wouldn’t need to sell discount packages of deep woods beers, but it seems the demand for some of the beers doesn’t meet their supply locally.

I imagine this is where the season ticket will be incredibly useful for them in terms of planning for future production.

Unless i happen to be in MA visiting friends I have no other way and that's not a lot of spots nor frequent visits. That said cafe and regular deth were easy finds even from 2021 where they were sold in 4 packs. Not so when in singles. Maybe the price tag plays a role even though it's a great price per ounce.

Was already posted upthread but as a friendly reminder. Hopefully some locals who may have missed out on the online sale can take advantage.

In terms of Tavour, Deth bundles, etc., there's just too much shit on shelves now, it's so, so easy to find a new BA beer to try, and maybe even one you always wanted but either could never have due to distro, or because less shit was around, it all sold instantly. I assume drinking habits have also changed since 2020 (I've heard breweries mention it anecdotally), so that's probably part of it too.

I think Rev wanted to do something for the bigger crowd since almost all of their Deep Woods releases are pretty limited to Chicagoland. Not everyone has a proxy available to them either...

The ultimate troll move now would be to give them a taste….then never allow proxies again.

They could be dicks like Hill Farmstead with Ann on-line sale coming up, where they specifically state that proxies are allowed then a couple of days before the actual release, after the hype for it has been built up, pull that back and say 'nope' but don't acknowledge it or apologize for the switcharo.

Agree to disagree on that. I wouldn’t call them dicks. I don’t think they allow proxies for anything - certainly not even shelfies. Should they apologize? Maybe. Do people actually need an apology? My god. Are beer nerds that butthurt over something like that where an apology is needed?

I’d argue that HF has been much more accommodating and fair about limited releases than someplace like SP.

My experience with Fox Pub and special tap events like this is that even if the kegs don't kick the day of the event, they typically take them off and then put back on in a few weeks or whatever. Can't say that I've really paid that close attention to every release event but I have tried to go there the next day and try something and it has been taken off.

Ah good to know. I'll check their taplist before I head out. Maybe even be old fashioned and just call them. Thanks!
