The thing with Barleywine/Old Ale experimentation is that the expression shows through the barrel aging and blending process, not the adjuncts.

That is a much more involved process that also requires a whole different skill set and investment in equipment.

I don’t think any of us think that Revs use of Adjuncts is what makes the barrel program great, but that is the vast majority of craft breweries barrel program - throw a bunch a sweet shit in the stout base, or throw fruit in a base that is tart.

Somewhere out there is a maniac with a french press who sees the lack of adjuncted barleywine as a personal challenge.

they’re out there, they’re just not that good.

See Maple Jacket, strawberry jacket, etc.

Those beers are…fine, and they’re made with one of the upper echelon barelywines.

Just FYI the taproom is 21 plus today - not sure how stridently they are enforcing that, but just wanted to be sure you had a heads up.

Definitely pushing the taproom trip and can pick up back until Sunday. Hopefully DB and Boss will still be on draft. I’ve no hope for the others.

The Sanctuary might be the worst Rev beer I’ve ever had, almost tasted like it was infected.

I know I missed this somewhere, but does the purchase from the DBVSOJ and Boss Ryeway release not count toward reward points on Rev Rewards?

I should clarify, I think fruit can also be a nice addition to barleywines; I've loved Blackberry Finn, Pipeworks' Cherry Murderous, etc., and would be happy to see Strawberry Jacket again. But pastry? Please, please, please, I don't ever want to see a coffee fudge marshmallow barleywine.

It is eligible. The following was mentioned in the pickup email:

Online presale purchases are eligible for Rev Rewards, but please allow up to 4 weeks to see those points credited to your account as they are entered manually by our team.

And that time is when you bring DB VSOJ to your lips for that first sip.

    Wow. Incredible.

Too sweet some say? GTFO of here! Cut out thy tongue, heathen! For it taste not but of Divinity and heaven!

I found DB VSOJ (God I hate acronyms but that's a LOT of letters otherwise) quite balanced. And, yes, incredible.

Having my first Boss Ryeway...this, on the other hand, is pretty damn sweet. Perceived or otherwise...
