I mean, have they shown you their upper area? Maybe you have knowledge I don't. @Jaycase could be a PAWG for all we know.

I don’t recall this conversation (please link - perhaps it was about BCBS), but it is consistent with my take that I’m OK paying a reasonable per ounce premium to have a 12 oz packaged serving over a 16.9 oz for over 12% ABV beers.

So if 12 oz four packs were $40 ($0.83 an ounce) and say 16.9 oz bottles were:

    $13 each ($0.77 / oz) = Buy Four Pack
    $12 each ($0.71 / oz) = Likely Four Pack
    $10-$11 ($0.59 or $0.65) = Likely 16.9 oz.

I’m the opposite for under 10% ABV beers. I will pay a slight premium for the preferred 16 oz / 19.2 oz can over 12 oz cans. I typically only drink one beer per day at home. It’s about manageability / proper serving size in both instances. For onsite consumption, I prefer an 8-10 oz pour for over 10% beers, 16-20 oz for standard.

I’m on the fence for purchasing beyond the season ticket allotment, but more so for the fact that I don’t like rum / rum barrels (Boss Ryeway) and I still have too many cellar beers to get through. That said, I’m sure Boss Ryeway will turn out great, and I can see buying one four pack of each of each to share a few of each.

I do understand the pause for folks due to the high price point, but have no qualms on this sale price. I have really appreciated Revolution’s historic (and still ongoing IMO) affordability, and the move from bombers to 12 oz cans plus the outstanding quality sealed the deal for me in terms of Deep Woods surpassing BCBS in terms of annual BA purchases the past five years.

Didn't see this announced anywhere, but Binny's has another WhistlePig PiggyBack 6 year old Rye finished in Rev Deep Woods barrels - I believe VSOJ. $59.99 but it's on sale right now for $54.99.

This one was finished in the barrels that Coconut Deth came out of over the Summer, though keep in mind that the toasted coconut was added post-barrel, so it's just branded as Deth's Tar.

Not to interrupt, but I have to share a very cool thing The Open Bottle did.

In December, a bunch of TOB’s crew (myself included) got to go to Rev to do a single-barrel pick & that’s now getting released on Jan. 28: https://theopenbottle.com/2023/01/28/bomber-jacket-single-barrel-pick-with-revolution/

The beer is a single-barrel pick of Straight Jacket aged for 14 months in Willett bourbon barrels with French Oak cubes added during fermentation.

This was the coolest thing I’ve ever got to do in beer (shame-filled plug of my Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/p/CnMxRXELryn/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=)

If you’re free the 28th, TOB is doing a bunch of fun things for its anniversary, including tapping this beer (among others). I can’t wait to taste the finished product.

Im guessing that is left over from the last one which was VSOJ ... Doug said it was Deth's Tar barrels.

I hope so because I grabbed it too.

My mild fear is that the sticker does say aged in stout barrels.

Sorry, I was saying I think the advertising thing was left over from the last time Binny's sold a Deep Woods - Piggyback Rye collab. The bottle I just picked up - I have no doubt the bottle I bought this weekend was aged in Deth's Tar barrels ...

That was an interesting article. How long is normal Straight Jacket aged, in which barrels and does it have French Oak cubes added in fermentation? Or rather is this simply just rebranded straight jacket?

So I can speak to our tasting, we tried the one aged in Willett that we went with.

We also got to taste an Elijah Craig barrel-aged straight jacket.

Those both had different times spent in barrel (I’m not going to say how long besides the revealed SJ because I don’t want to share too much.)

The French Oak cubs were specific to the SJ aged in the Willett barrel.

So, while this is super cool, being a Rev completionist who lives in the suburbs hates this. It was already a bear tracking down the Aman’s single barrel, this is going to be as tough.
    Dammit.
