Per a Facebook post, it does appear there will be a "very limited" amount of DBVSOD 4-packs at the pub on Friday. Plus you should be able to get some draft pours before the taproom opens!

If you missed a release, you always bet on the brewpub on Friday afternoon if you can swing it. Come through for me many times.

I think all 3 draft variants sound utterly fantastic.

I've had the "money barrel" about 5 times now (it's STILL on draft at the Hopleaf, Chicago people) and it is phenomenal. If the other two are half as good this is going to be an epic Friday release.

Since many are headed down once again this weekend or soon to pick up their allotments, just though I'd post this announcement that if you are interested in trying or buying more of their Barleywine Life Jacket, this Revolution Tweet indicates 100% of sales proceeds of this beer in the month of November will go toward Alex' (Don't Drink Beer) medical treatment. Life Jacket is available at both Revolution locations.

Looks like the "Money Barrel" is the early-pickup variant on draft tonight.

Has anyone tried to take the label off a can of Deth by Cherries? It looks like there is a label to peel off, but... then there's no label? Can't tell if the can is printed or not. Haven't encountered anything quite like that before.

DbC is really dang good. Don't miss this one.

Since you are so transparent, I was wandering if you could answer a hypothetical. Have you ever thought (and how easy would it be) to set up releases with the option to buy either 1, 2 or 3 4-packs (as default options) with different amounts of each allocations available (ie more 1 and 2 4-pack options over the 3 4-pack option)? It seems easy, you would just create 3 options to choose from. It creates a bit of a “game” for releases, but also spreads it out over more people.

This isn’t about the most recent release. I was sending my proxy info this morning, and I was thinking about releases and the “allocation problem.” I thought this might be a creative solution that still is a Min-Max outcome. You maximize the number of orders (ie number of people obtaining the beer) while minimizing the amount of surplus beer available. For beers that will sell out, they will still sell out. For beers that won’t, they still won’t, but admittedly may sell a very small amount less since FOMO may cause people to buy more if available.

I’ve seen this done for other releases elsewhere (in terms of the “game”), only instead of it being about allocation size, it is about picking a time. If you care more about the allocation than the time, you try to choose the least desirable pickup window.

Just a thought. Curious to hear your feedback.

Meh. Sounds like a headache to me. Simpler is better.

Nice. I noticed the same thing on the Pragueress cans. Was this the first release with the new digital printing? Very slick. And great from an end consumer recycling perspective as well. Just need those breweries with the damn, sticky f$#& labels (ahem, HA) to shift over to digital printing. Imagine it might be pricey, however.

After HA I’m heading over to Rev. Anybody gonna be part of the 2pm crowd?

I believe the summer Deep Wood release was all digitally printed. Imperial Anti was and it’s the best looking digitally printed can in my opinion. The gold on the Deep Wood cans really pops digitally printed. Not sure on the price (would guess cheaper) but from a packaging perspective with the digitally printed cans the frustration level is magnitudes lower than sleeved or labeling cans individually.

Cool, thanks for the response. Sounds like a win-win then. Both for the brewery and consumers. Kudos to Rev on the switch. The digital printing does really pop nicely on the Pragueress cans as well.

    Variant rankings:

    VO Thundertaker
    DBVSOD Money Barrel
    Boss Lumberstruck

And it’s actually VO Thundertaker by a mile in my opinion. Money Barrel is intriguing, it’s got an interesting spicy character. As much as it pains me to say it, the Boss Lumberstruck was a dud. No spirit character at all and none of the complexity I remember from regular Lumberstruck, which was so pleasantly dry and tannic.

I don't think that it's been said, but coconut SJ, vanilla SJ, & vanilla/coconut SJ need to happen! These are beers that need to come to the Deep Woods Series cans!
