Curious what he thinks BT (versus a different barrel) adds to DT. Is it a particular flavor, a consistency, etc.?

One of my favorite years for DT was around 2021, that year had a big marshmallow note. I used to tell my friends that they put vanilla in it. But they didn't. Maybe that was the BT year?

Nonetheless, more on the Liquid Liner notes pod with Marty. Cool podcast, I highly recommend! Toward the end Marty noted that Barleywinery DBXOJ is going to be peak barleywine. Made me super excited for that release.

Great people, great atmosphere, terrific beer. Well done, Revolution!

I am digging the can of Vanilla Deth - super good.[IMG]

Draft variants were fine and worked as intense expressions of vanilla and mocha flavors. Sample sizes were more than enough, I wouldn’t want more. However, for me, the star was “regular” Deth’s. Really great year for it and I’ll certainly be going back for more cans. However, I wouldn’t be upset if they transitioned to a model of kegging enough that it was on draft all year long. I’d get it every time.

I also appreciated the hop water with my pickup order. It’s usually halfway on my ride home when I realize I should have grabbed some.

Don't know whether to be proud or embarrassed about this, but my wife and I stopped in today to pick up some beers and try the draft-only variants. After so many years of the Rev Rewards program not allowing redemptions online, and so many years of ordering any additional regular beers online in advance, I guess I'd never actually seen a points balance. Shopify must have linked up credit cards to rewards accounts recently, leading to a bit of shock when I paid for our beers and was asked if I'd like to apply some of our $450+ in rewards to the tab.

    Next round's on me?

Agreed, got to say that of all the pours the regular and vanilla were the winners for me.

Vanilla is not a vanilla bomb, but there's a bit more vanilla this time around than last IMO.

    Both very well done.

Strong agree on the strength of Deth's Tar this year. Fantastic batch. Smooth with a very nice, creamy mouthfeel and a well balanced flavor profile.

'Dangerously drinkable' is almost a cliche at this point but I must say, this one is dangerously drinkable. It tastes & feels like a very flavorful 6 or 7% oatmeal stout but you better not drink it like one.

This is what I remember about the first batch of DT I had back in 2017ish. I remember drinking them a little too frequently while working with a mitre saw in the garage while doing house renovations.

I'm the same way. I drink much, much less than I used to and it's actually propelled me away from more mild tasting beers.

Interesting. To my palate, I've found more mild tasting beer to be more enjoyably flavorful the less I drink.

Yeah, you’re in the last stage of craft beer. Phil Ballins is in the 2nd to last stage. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, macro lagers back to macro lagers.

If I go out to a show or something I'm always drinking simple macro stuff. So I'm at the point now where I'm either drinking a stupid barrel aged pastry stout or a PBR lol
