    Well. At the same time.
I mean, the coffee they used in BCBCS last year was of the more tart/fruity type too. Obviously, it got a lot more tart/fruity due to the infection, but even fresh non-infected BCBCS had a little bit going on.

I had last year's BCBCS and yeah, I guess I could see that, but wouldn't consider it "infected-tasting" (at least...the non-infected version :grinning:), which is why I was curious about Café. The most annoying part is that I promised a friend I'd open my bottle when she was around (which won't be for a while), so now I'm just staring at this bottle every day, like, "WHAT DOES A TART COFFEE STOUT TASTE LIKE?!?"

Well sorry for bringing this up to everyone's attention. The beer is fine apparently and I'm just a dumb noob who has no idea what taste are. it's now becoming very clear to me why I have never posted in years past though. No trolling or anything trying to be started but pretty sure this is the correct forum to post about something like this occuring. And also I'm not the only one who is seeing this with the bottles they opened. I love Revolution and have been to a few of their events as well so this was no way a bashing of them. I just wanted to see what people were experiencing as I also have 2 more bottles of cafe in my cellar. Not to mention the other 10+ BA offerings in there that have no off flavors or anything that occured.

Also as stated before the sour, tartness only occurred when this beer became completely room temp. As stated prior the beer tasted excellent. But I now understand that before a Noon posts anything that is constructive to tread lightly because emotions run high... Guess I'll go drink a beer and forget about the rude people.

I don't think you did anything wrong raising the question, I think people may just be objecting to the header (which makes it sound like the beer is for sure infected). Rev recently had a problem with this, so I think people are being defensive in a "c'mon, leave a local brewery we love alone already!" type manner. Between that and the BCS debacle last year, we're all pretty sick of having to worry whether our precious barrel-aged beers are bad. I wouldn't worry too much about it, sooner or later everyone gets shit for something they say on the internet (right or wrong)!

And yeah, since you're new around here (seems like), I guess people aren't going to give you the benefit of the doubt they'd give some older guys(although honestly, who knows); don't worry about it too much. Hopefully it isn't infected, but if it is, you can always revisit this thread later and post an "I told you so!" Rev was indeed pretty open about the last infection, so if there's anything wrong, we'll probably know soon enough regardless.

Had a bottle from the brewery release yesterday, drank cold to warm, excellent beer, no issues at all.

It's almost like as it warms up different flavors begin to come through. Like every beer ever.

So now your just trolling... Thanks for the input and providing nothing constructive to the thread to try and receive some answers.

That's not really a troll. People perceive different flavors when beer is cold vs warm and vice versa. There's a bunch of science behind it, but the simplest way to explain it: Know anyone who likes to drink warm Coors Light?

Stop assuming everything is an attack on your post.

Who would want to drink one when cold as well... But honestly even if the entire forum decided to team up against my post my day will go on the same way. I'm glad i've gotten some feedback good and bad which is to be expected. I've drank plenty of coffee stouts as well in my day to understand that what i experienced was not normal in any coffee offerings i've encountered. BCBCS, KBS, Mornin Delight, CBS etc. But in no way am i trying to play the victim the only reason i posted is to try and answer some questions.

I wish people would put themselves in the shoes of a brewery (a business) before making highly public accusations regarding a possible "infection." I mean, you clearly didn't do your due diligence or you'd have seen the facebook post, and I'm wondering how long you waited for a Twitter response, five minutes?

I work in IT and searched for about 2 hours yesterday looking for anything i could find on this topic and found nothing. Even now i cant find anything on Facebook with any mention as well. What boggles the mind is that Revolution has already had infected coffee stouts in the past "Bean Gene" so bringing up a post asking if anyone has come across this with their bottles is doing my due diligence. Me bringing this up doesn't change the fact that i will still visit the brewpub and tap house like i normally do and drink the beers i have from them in my cellar. So with that said i'm sure that Revolution will be more than fine and the doors will open tomorrow like normal. Not sure why you even posted except to stir up the pot as there is no constructive feedback to the issue that was addressed about a possible infection.

I mean the guy put a ? mark after it. If that didn't clearly indicate it was a question, I'm not sure what else would have clued folks in.

He thought it tasted off and asked. There wasn't an accusation.

Even on the FB post, the dude who originally posted didn't seem entirely convinced by Josh Deth's response. I don't have an opinion either way; just saying that that post doesn't necessary squash jimp's question.

I also think it's a little tricky to say "don't post about the possibility of an infected beer" on this site. What else is he supposed to do? It's not like every person who buys Rev beer is on the Great Lakes region of this forum, and will now avoid them completely. Hell I'm here, and this won't affect my purchasing choices at all. There's nothing wrong with asking a question/eliciting a discussion. I'm 100% in agreement with you that we shouldn't actively harm a brewery's rep unnecessarily, but this isn't that.

As far as I know, the FB question was from a specific Chicago beer group (that I've only been part of for like a month). If you're not in that group, you wouldn't see it.

edit: Also, the BCS infection thread started the same way, so there's no real way to win here. Those guys (in Florida) were being accused of either having busted palates, having hot beer that went bad (they were in Florida, after all), or just have a one-off bad experience. Again, not saying these beers are bad, just saying that, let's say there were an infection, someone would have to start the thread (and get yelled at).

EVERYONE JUST RELAX AND BUY SOME F*%KING REV BEER
