Going to Greensboro/Lake Oconee/Reynolds Plantation next week for a wedding. Are there any craft beer stores, or pubs that I should seek out? Please, yes?
It's pretty non existent unless you are willing to drive. I got married out there as well, and the closest bottle shops I can think of are in Madison, which is back toward Atlanta, or go north to Athens, and you've got a bunch of choices there. Not a far drive, but if you've got a portion of the day, it's a nice drive, and you can spend a day in and around Athens. There's a couple steakhouse/restaurants outside of RP, but I can't recall any at the time with a decent selection. We stayed at some houses in Cuscowilla.
How about the Mellow Mushroom across the lake? Is their beer selection good? Others I have been to, such as Myrtle Beach have been very good.
Possible. I haven't ever been in there.. Most aren't bad, so it's worth a shot atleast. I admit, it's been close to 2 years since I was there for an extended period of time, and the only other times was at families house on Oconee thats across the lake from RP. If you are flying in to ATL and want to get some goodies on your way out to I-20, then there's a couple of options headed that way you could swing.
Nathaniel Greene had his name on lots of places, but Greensboro, Ga. and Greensboro, Alabama are beautiful places mostly bereft of wide beer choices. Flying into Atlanta and renting a car? If so, our Georgia friends will steer you in the right direction around the city. Take the good stuff with you. Caught my eye being here in Greensboro, N.C. Have fun.
You're gonna be an hour or so from Athens, which is a great place to visit if you're able. There is an amazing selection here. If you're interested let me know and I'll tell you everywhere to go. We have some terrific bottle shops that are worth the drive alone, a full on brewery, cool little brewpub, and 2 great craft bars.
