My in-laws are taking a cruise on the Rhine in a couple of weeks. They asked me if there was any beer/glassware they could be on the lookout for. They aren't that into beer, so anything I'd ask them should be fairly easy to find. And it's a cruise, so they won't have a ton of time in each place they dock. So is there anything specific that I could ask them to look out for that I couldn't get in the States?
Any Rhein cruises are in a virtual beer wasteland, but as far as glassware go, a nice Kölsch stange is a great drinking vessel. Fragile, but neat. In addition, they might run into some solid pilsner glasses, all a question of taste/style. The heavy-duty stuff is generally found in Bayern. I know there a few glassware fanatics floating around here, I'm sure someone with better suggestions will chime in.
