5 minutes away from the Xfinity Center you will find Jimmy’s Pub. Don’t let the look of the place fool you. (It looks like any other townie pub badly in need of an updated appearance inside and out). The pub food is damn good and the taplist is typically very good. They’ve been pouring 3 lines of Trillium for months, as well as regulars like MBC, Singlecut, Jack’s Abbey, Lone Pine, Grimm, Lawson’s, Battery Steele and more. This week they got some NEBCO Seahag. There are a couple of other places, but this is my suggestion for best beer on draft close to Xfinity Center. My $0.02.

    Still havent tried long live.

I can alter my commute somewhat to try out Jimmy's.

Bog Iron is also near great woods. Not highly rated but it's always packed and they're growing their space.

Fortnite Wine Bar is a cool wine co-op in downtown Providence. I really like it. They have some really solid beers on tap too, focusing more on sours and wilds. I had a solid table beer there.

Nice call on staying north of Providence.

Milford Mass. has Craftroots Brewery and a decent beer scene. Hopkinton Mass. has Startline Brewing. Lots to do in Franklin. Cheers.

Hmm. You would think, with the increased production after the move, you would see more of their kegs around and definitely further away from the brewery than Bayberry.

Good to see another "old-timer" who still and will forever call it Great Woods.

Even the next generation name Tweeter Center at least provided some easy dick jokes.

Yeah just seems like they're selfish with kegs to serve their taproom. Which is actually a good thing because LLB has been able to maintain 8-10 beers on tap most of the time, and if I miss a can release I can go there like several weeks later and still have a draft of that beer.

Who can even keep up with the corporate names anyway? Great Woods is always Great Woods, Deer Creek is always Deer Creek.

And The Meadows... loved that place. No law. Wonderful parking lot leading to parking lot vibe. Jai alai Lot!

To make it beer-related somewhat, I remember a time when a friend came down from Burlington with some Magic Hat growlers and we were enjoying them in the sun before what I believe I remember being a Bob Dylan/Phil Lesh hippie extravaganza and we got hungry. Growler of soon-to-be-painfully-outmoded beer in hand, each of us strolled across that charming main road to the McDonalds. We ordered food and empty cups and savored the food pairing that is Magic Hat and double-cheeseburger.

It would go on to rain like hell that evening and the lawn was fucking amazingly fun.

I can't even count how many "shows" I attended there without ever entering the gates.

Does anyone know when the new barn at Tilted is supposed to open? I don't recall reading any kind of projected finishing date on their blog. I haven't been in over a year so I don't even know what kind of progress, if any, is being made.

My gut is probably the beginning of 2021, but I haven't been since around Thanksgiving and it has been an unusually mild winter. The area of the new barn was cleared and seemed fairly well worked over, but I hadn't noticed a foundation in the ground quite yet.

I always neglect to mention the best new restaurant/food court in Providence with a small top-notch beer selection to match. Plant City is in the old Mile and a Quarter banquet restaurant on South Water Street that opened this past summer. It is a vegetarian/vegan restaurant started by Matthew Kenney with a variety of food service areas: "Burger" restaurant/bar, cafe, cafeteria and mini market downstairs. Pizza and mexican food upstairs. Everything is plant based. Burger is made of shrooms and quinoa, they use cashew cheese, "sausage" on the pizza tastes great.

On top of that, I write this post because Untappd notifications popped up and Plant City currently has a list of 2 Trillium beers, 2 J. Wakefield beers, an Aslin tap, Bissell Substance, a Jackie O's stout, King Sue, and a Schilling lager. I am no vegetarian but the food and beer combination can't be beat.

    They are targeting late summer 2020;

I live about 10 minutes away and drive by often. There's a lot of work going on, even now. Should be on target - hopefully! The new barn looks like it's going to be awesome.

Someone might've said it already but Bog Iron Brewing is about 5 minutes away in Norton. Great little spot with some solid beers and they often have a food truck. Or go to Wendell's across the street and get some of my favorite wings and bring them to Bog Iron - I recommend the boneless 3.5s. They're cash only by the way.

As for restaurants, Jimmys Pub is for classic grub and Flynns for burgers are great recommendations. Both have a nice tap list. Albertos Pizza is about a minute away if you want some good pizza and decent beer.

Love hearing people mention Great Woods. My generation called it Tweeter. Worked summers there for almost 10 years from high school through college. They have a OK craft selection these days but it will cost you a small fortune. I think they still do a value beer at the concession stand that is far up on the right side of the venue before you get to the lawn.

I am planning an afternoon in RI coming up soon, as I am seeing a show at the Met in Pawtucket. Wanted to hit up Tilted Barn, Long Live Beerworks and maybe Proclamation.
Anyone have suggestions on a decent place to eat nearby any of those breweries, or near the Met?

The west side of Providence is great. I really enjoy the Beer On Earth/Bayberry combo. Plus Long Live and Pizza J are in the vicinity as well.

Found myself in Prov and Cranston today so I made my first visits to Long Live and Buttonwood today. I figured I'd like LL better given that it gets more fanfare on here but I enjoyed Buttonwood better. Only got to try a couple different beers at LL (and both were IPAs) but thought they were mundane. Enjoyed both the beers and vibe better at Buttonwood.
