Will be in Richmond with wife & kids for a wedding 4/10 - 4/13. I will be staying at the Hilton Short Pump (12042 West Broad Street).

I am looking for recommendations of stores close by where I can pickup some quality beer for myself, and some piss water for my wife.

    Thanks!

Try Whole Foods in Short Pump. They have a nice selection as well as nice stuff on tap. There is also "Once Upon a Vine". I'm not from Richmond and don't know how close they are though. I know its in the area somewhere.

The Whole Foods is very close to your hotel, and as far as bottle shops go, is the only thing decently close by. Closest beer bar to you is Capital Ale House Innsbrook, but treat yourself to Mekong and enjoy a great experience.

^^^ Definitely check out Mekong...awesome draft list. Also, if you get the chance to stop by Hardywood you'd enjoy that as well and can pick up some bottles that you may not find on the shelf at Whole Foods or Total Wine.

I'm from the short pump area. If you're just looking to score some bottles without traveling too far, Whole Foods is your best bet by far. If you're looking to go on more of a beer adventure, definitely go by Mekong, its an awesome beer bar and also a Vietnamese restaurant so there's a reason for your wife to go (assuming she would be interested in Vietnamese food). Strangeways Brewing is very close to Mekong (neither are too far from Short Pump, maybe 10 minutes) and they are a great place to check out as well. Their tap room is cool, they have about 20 different beers on tap, and their beers are great. Hardywood makes great beer but they are much further and not as cool of a place in my opinion. All of the places mentioned so far have been driving east from Short Pump. Also very close (probably the closest) but in the other direction is Lickinghole Creek. I have not been there yet but I tried their bourbon barrel stout on tap last time I was in Richmond and I would honestly say its probably the best I've ever had. Its called Enlightened Despot, if you see it anywhere, get it. The brewery is right down the road from Short Pump though, worth a trip in my opinion.
