Planning on walking the Ridgeway from Goring to Avebury in a couple of months. Are there any recommendations for beer-worthy stops?

Jeez - you had me worrying there for a second. I expected the title of your post to signal a possible demise of Ridgeway Brewing ...

I have walked the Ridgeway over the last several years. There aren't many pubs actually on the route, but there are some here and there, and if you are prepared to detour a little, you can certainly find some in the nearby towns and villages.

Here are some that I have visited myself:

    Goring:
    The Miller of Mansfield
    The Catherine Wheel

    Streatley:
    The Bull

Aldworth (a mile or so off the Ridgeway):
The Bell (Really good, family owned for numerous generations).

Wantage (a mile or two from the Ridgeway, with assorted shops, restaurants and pubs):
The King's Arms (my personal pick
    The Shoulder of Mutton
    The Royal Oak

Letcombe Regis (a mile or so from Wantage, and accessible from the Ridgeway):
    The Greyhound

    A good resource is:

I would recommend that you check opening times and food serving times in advance.

    I hope this helps.
