I just bought a Regular Oak Aged and an Espresso Oak Aged Yeti for $8.99 each! I can understand the $10.99 considering they had to ship it across the country, but $17.99? That's f'n ridiculous! Is that everywhere or just one particular store?

Thats kind of what I thought. At first I thought I misheard him but he typed it on the cash register so I could see what he was seeing. Didn't buy any. But it was well stocked.

It wasn't even a growler , a 750 but again in a bar and I was enjoying myself so it was worth it at the moment .

One store, the only store, where I have seen it offered besides Total Wine in Laurel, MD which is always "out of stock"...

I knew Australia was pricey but $9 for an Adjunct?!? It's less than half that here for a Budweiser, Coors, etc.

Wine proves what the market will bear for beverages... and any beer that sells out like a rocket and then goes for $$$ at auction/in trade says that the market would certainly have been happy to pay more at retail. In my old age I'd be happier if the prices were actually higher for some of these because I have more cash than time, and running around from store to store or standing in a crazy-long line for hours hoping to get a bottle is just nuts at this point. I wish BCBCS was $30+ a bottle -- I'd buy one a year, and hopefully it would get the n00bs to stop hoarding it. My personal hope is that another few years sees a soft landing for craft beer that gets us back to a 2010 level of nuts... sad that that seems good in comparison to where we are now.

The sentiments here are easily summed up as:

    1. Everybody has a different idea of what is too expensive; and

    2. Not all beers are good value at their price point compared to similar beers at the same price point.

I'm not going to say that I haven't spent $40 on a bottle or generally spent a shit ton of money on beer because I have. I am fortunate to be financially capable of affording that kind of luxury and have a wife that enjoys beer enough to enjoy those beers with me. Still, it is rare that I spend that much on beer on a regular basis and I brew sours and all sorts of other stuff at home so the average cost of each beer I drink is not too far off from what most people are paying for pints of IPA or whatever your normal drink is.

As long as we are paying, the prices will keep rising.

Oh God yet another "my beer is too pricey" thread; and from a Canadian no less. St.B abt12. The next province over 12oz bottles of Abt12 is roughly $9 +tax. a 750 ml is roughly $15+ tax.
Its canada beer no mater if its craft or not is pricey.

Not usually this much, but from a bar/pub they are about $5-7. Retail they will be about $3-4 a bottle.

EDIT: These are Capital city prices.

Speaking of price gouging, I've seen 750ml bottles of Fou' Foune, Saint Lamvinus, Bruocsella Grand Cru & Iris all go for $90 each at a liquor store not too far from me. Same place also had single bottles of Westy12 for $35 each.

That's actually fairly cheap. I wouldn't be surprised if that were $50 at retail.

It's $10 per bottle. I think I've seen it for $9 per bottle a couple times.

What happens when breweries and/or retailers eventually hit the point when 99% of craft drinkers can't afford their beer? Do we go back to drinking BMC? :grimacing::slight_frown:

If it makes you feel any better, they are/were $30 in Alaska and $33 here. Things are expensive up there.

I honestly don't think that is all that bad of a price OP. For six of those beers, I have seen the Abt. 12 single going for as high as $8 for one bottle, the small 11.? oz one. So $25 for a six pack seems to be pretty much right on target from what I have seen. Now there are lots of beers that are overpriced but the one you were speaking of seems to be pretty close to the mark.
