https://www.sandiegobeer.news/blog/beer-news/rip-current-brewing-for-sale-2022 There goes another one...
Sad to hear. Back in the day when OC/LA beer scene was getting started I would make Rip Current one of my stops when we’d make a SD run. Good times for sure.
We had been there a couple of times and enjoyed both visits. Beer was good. If I lived in the area, it would be on the rotation. However, not surprised on being sold. I have been getting their newsletter for several years and it's been pretty hit and miss. They never seemed to take the next step or were just embracing what they were. Unfortunately, not growing sometimes means getting left behind. Wish them luck and hope there beer survives in some manner.
One of my favorites. Lupulin, Black Lagoon, Hazardous Hazelnut, Vanilla Storm, and the original Impact Zone were some of my favorites. The barrel aging was always top notch. I think the location and too many styles that sometimes you’d come in and your favorites weren’t on tap hurt them.
They seemed to have the idea of dialing up to 13, both alcohol and flavor, not always with drinkability in mind, IMHO. The tasting room on 30th Street is/was a pleasant place for sipping, with interesting food in the back.
