    Hi fellow BAs...

Don't know if y'all were aware, but Paul Davis of Stark in Manchester NH (and formerly of Prodigal Son, Lucknow, and more) is experiencing some serious health issues. He had contracted Covid and has been hospitalized for a few weeks, most of which time he's been on a ventilator.... He's currently off but still quite weak.

Stark owner Peter Telge has a fundraiser set up to help offset the considerable medical expenses.
If you're so inclined, you can donate here.....

Sully, it was Troutbrook Brewing back in the day when he was here. Paul was the man, remember when Liberator Doppelbock was the #1 ranked beer in BA? And yes, he was always chatting the patrons up on Bartholamew St. Good dude. Thanks @Bierman9 for the heads up.

You still have Old Marleys? Nice! Remember the cask lager he would tap at the New Haven Real Ale fest? How do you do a cask lager one might ask... I don't know either, but it was delicious!

Thank you. Paul passed away quietly yesterday morning, April 2, the day after our daughter's twelfth birthday.

We are planning some remembrances, and I'm thinking of a charity beer event to endow an ABG scholarship in Paul's name.

We still have quite a few kegs of Prodigal brews and I cannot think of a better use.

    Peace

The news re: Paul has been very sad over this extended time. What a legacy he left behind. So enjoyed both of your company (and pilot brews) at Backwoods Brewdown at Shaun's. Never made it down to Stark, but still have the cherished Castle Springs cap Paul gave me. My sincerest condolences to you & the girls.

RIP Paul. I did not meet you until Shaun Hill's Backwoods Brewdown in 2009, but well remember drinking Castle Springs beers at the 1997 GABF. Loved your crazy sense of humor and enjoyment of the art. Never did figure out if you were kidding me about some of the ingredients in your pilot brews.

Deepest sympathies Katie. You probably don't remember me; I was the guy who helped you get the stroller over a rough patch of gravel at the Brewdown and had a long discussion with Paul about the merits of Munich 10 vs. Munich 20.

Lost my grandmother last night, so feeling a little out of sorts myself. But she died in her sleep at age 99; not the same thing as being struck down in the prime years.

Learned this news over the weekend and was very sad to hear. I was fortunate to get to know Paul at events and tastings in CT when he was with Troutbrook and put them on the map with Liberator and the Octoberfest that took silver at GABF and was featured in a Food Network documentary. Rarely missed a Thursday night tasting event at Eli’s for a chance to sample great beer and catch up with Paul on beer and brewing. Lots of CT BA members would show up. My wife used to say “if that Paul guy was a dog he’d be a Labrador because he’s so happy and friendly and outgoing.” I recall a BAR/BruRm Real Ale Fest when he shared a taste of a limited supply of a Prodigal dopplebock hidden under the counter and it was hands down THE best beer of the day. He was a great ambassador for the craft and for CT beer. He will be missed. My condolences to the family.
