That would be cool if it was the official beer and sold at the nuclear museum. Is this beer released yet? Just saw this post tonight.

Drinking a 3 month to the day old Torpedo and it’s still great.

    Enjoy

Ha yeah. I had one of the worst hangovers of my life the day after my first time at Oktoberfest.

Funny thing, I never had hangovers in my trips to Germany. Austria, on the other hand...

Well I had 7 liters by 4 pm before leaving the tent...that was the pregame that night...I don't think it matters what country or type of beer I was drinking, that hangover was happening!

 Day one of my first visit we hit the Fest at open... and stayed until 9:00. :grimacing:

We were all much younger then. :flushed:

Not sure why that Austrian trip got me, probably older by then.

Never saw a one. At least Augustiner or Stiegl didn't have one.

Yes, quality lagers/pilsners are more expensive to brew. Plus, there’s absolutely no margin for error. With an IPA whatever comes out can be the new “limited edition” or specialty brew…

Interesting. Then how can a pilsner only operation like Trumer stay afloat when I can pick it up for $8.99 a six-pack or less?

You may already know the answer to your own question but the Trumer brewery in Berkeley was setup (optimized) for the production of lagers - their sole product is Trumer Pils which they brew in large quantity.

An 'analogy' which could be brought up is Anheuser-Busch where their breweries are large scale and optimized for lager production (e.g., Bud Light, Bud).

In contrast small craft breweries are typically of a scale and business planning to produce craft ales (e.g., IPA, etc.). For those craft breweries to produce lagers could require a difference in brewing equipment (e.g., tanks dedicated for lagering) and needless to say an adjustment in their brewing scheduling (lagers take longer from brewday to ship day vs. ales). Despite the fact that lagers are more challenging for the smaller craft breweries they typically do not price their lager products equivalent to their sought after ales (e.g., IPAs) since beer consumers are typically not willing to pay $16+ for a four-pack/16 ounce lager (e.g., a Pilsner).

    Cheers!

Seems this beer (Atomic Torpedo) will be part of the upcoming Hoppy Sampler variety pack (SNPA, Torpedo, Dankful & Atomic Torpedo). Haven't seen fresh Dankful cans in these parts since December so will definitely be looking out for this pack. No idea as far as release date.

Same with me in SEPA. I purchased a number of six-packs of Dankful IPA in 2020 but zero in 2021 since all of those beer sightings were of old beer.

    Cheers!

I think I'd be very enthusiastic to try this pack -- just because it's SN.

SN sent me an email offer for a $5 rebate on 2 sixpacks a few weeks back. The very day I bought a 12 pk of their Oktoberfest :grimacing:. OK.

But it's good until the end of next month. I bought a six of the O'fest a week or so later to bring to a party and I've been looking in every store for a sixpack of anything SN (other than that Hazy trio) with a good date to get my rebate. Isn't looking good...

And if I do find something to buy, my next bitch about SN  is likely gonna be about this bit of fine print:
Sounds like a lot of work for five !~@#$ bucks. It'll probably be some kind of internet funny money, too - a virtual credit card or whatever the hell I had to join to get a "free beer" certificate (still unused) from Boston Beer Co. for getting vaxed.

The new Summer specialty might be honeydew persimmon SlushPA ready for a freezer near you! Chase the devil and you just may catch him.......This is all why I love good German beers like the Lowenbraus of my youth.

Yeah, well -- Lowenbrau of my youth was brewed in Milwaukee.

Sounds like the situation at my local beer retailers.

Maybe my only purchase of SN beers for 2021 will be Celebration, which I need to travel to a bordering state (DE) to find at a reasonable price (i.e., a price like exists at the majority of states in the US).

    Cheers!

I was in high school and my Dad kept two sixers of Munich Lowenbrau in the fridge. After basketball I could easily settle back with a nice malty and dry rich Bavarian beer and recover right away. My great Dad was really a cool American hero, for sure. He just wanted to be left alone mostly, but he would on occasion tell me about his war travails in The Philippines that made my skin crawl then and now. He was wounded twice, had Dengue Fever, Malaria and suffered what I know now to be PTSD. God bless him!
