Hi All-I am about to rack a RIS into a secondary and a few weeks after this add some oak soaked in bourbon.

Not being real big on bourbon knowledge not sure which ones to use/add. I was thinking Makers Mark (just cause I know of this one which should be no marketing shock) or Red Stag to add a little cherry hint to it.

What would other use/recommend and why? Thanks all for the input on this one.

I've used Jack and Maker's. I like the Maker's the best. It's smooth and I like the flavor, especially with the RIS. Works very well, IMO.

I like Makers Mark, and have mostly used that since it is usually on hand. I did use Jim Beam Black once, but results were similar enough I couldn't tell the difference.

It depends on what you like. If you like the bourbon as-is, chances are you'll like it in the beer. I've done a few RIS brews, one with Makers Mark and one with Buffalo Trace. Both came out great.
