Select as many of the following grains that interest you.

So far we have decided on a Russian Imperial Stout of 1.100 OG. The base malt will be Maris Otter and possibly include some standard 2 row. We will also be including some oats.

At least the top 3 grains will go on for further questioning. However all grains garnering the interest of more than 1/3 of voters will be included as well.

Brown? Amber? Both rather important for a potential RIS

or are you going to include them in with the crystal in the later poll?

Toasted malts were already generally ruled out. Some interest was shown in munich ~33%. I didn't have amber as an option, but there were other toasted malts in there. Because a sizable minority wanted munich I think I will revisit the topic after the recipe has been created to see if the general direction we go influences them.

On the topic of brown malts I did not plan on including them. They are not my favourite, used them once and didn't love it. Some people use them, most don't. There are so many different malts and grains out there it would be impossible to include them all. I do suppose they might be common enough to warrant a spot on a ballot. Maybe I will include them in the next poll on crystals… Another reason I was hesitant to include brown malt is that to the best of my knowledge several malt-sters call it different things and there is some debate on what exactly it is. Generally I wanted to avoid anything controversial.
