River North Barrel release

Had no idea about this. Any detail? (price, beer type, no of bottles)

 

Bottles will be making it out in limited supply.

 

Is it any good tho, that is the real question.

 

I still need to give RN another go. I was underwhelmed back in February, but a lot can change in 6 months.

 

I'd like to try this. I was really impressed with Unified Theory, their oak-aged imperial wit; hopefully their oak-aging will continue to progress.

 

Is it a brewery release only?

 

I went there today for lunch. Unified Theory is awesome. The Whiskey J Marie is bottle only, no one has really tasted it yet except the people that work there. Unified Theory = $9, Whiskey J Marie = $12.

 

Both releases will be available at various locations; Mr. Bs, Mile High, looks like Lukas, etc.

If Whiskey J Marie is anything like Funkwerks Solstice, I'll be buying a lot.

 

I'm drinking the Whiskey-Aged J Marie Saison right now...all I have to say is WOW! This is a thing of beauty. Tastes kind of like the Unified Theory, but with a slight whiskey backbone. I will be buying more.

I need to try one of these (either one). If anyone has one that they would be willing to let go of BM me.

 

I'm guessing I'm going to have to go down and buy some. No time like the present.

 

Unified Theory was a nice surprise, really enjoyable.

Any other reports on this one? Had mine after work tonight and just wasn't feeling it. I'll admit I was a bit skeptical about a BA saison but I figured being a local brewery I'd give it a go. The flavors just didn't work together for me as the whiskey flavor seemed to cancel out any of the saison-ness. Maybe this one gets better with a bit of time? To me it was kind of confusing haha. The smell was almost like a sour but then the taste was all whiskey with a small hint of saison funk.

I liked that they were able to kind of branch out from what I've seen as far as styles go so I'd be willing to try some of their other beers either at the brewery or in bottles.

 

Just FYI, the Funkwerks Solstice (BA Dark Saison) was out of this world good. I wish I could try this BA J.Marie to compare, didn't find it at my local go-to's and missed the brewery release.
