Interesting. I guess that's the last hurrah for the old Flying Dog facility. Wasn't Tabernash around there, too? I don't think anyone would fault them if they had to move production elsewhere. I'd love to see a larger taproom. For a place with that kind of production, their tasting room is smaller than places 1/4 their size.
I like River North a lot, but even with that patio (which is 400 degrees in the summer, by the way) I HATE going to their taproom. Terrible layout and jammed up with people. Here's to hoping they find a bigger place in River North and a production facility out near me I can jam on.
I generally like their beers, but I finally visited the taproom for the first time yesterday. Its a small space, but somehow it feels even more cramped that I think it really is. Anyway, I hope they find a good spot in the same neighborhood.
As with any business, it's best to own your building. They better find a place soon before the prices in that area shoot to the moon. The moon!
I remember that a brewery call Timberline Ales (?) was in that location, probably back in the 90s? They didn't last very long, either, suffering from the first shake out. I remember several breweries that I kinda liked back then closing: Only The Best (Divide, CO), Silver Plume, Lone Tree (original one), Back Alley (CO Springs), the original Flying Dog Brewpub (Aspen) and a couple others that escape me at the moment (damn the several brews I'm quaffing tonight!). Never made it to Timberline when they were open; tried one day but they were closed. I remember it was Pikes Peak (the original one in CO Springs) that helped me get hooked on micro/craft.
there are so many places that are available, but the reality it most will need to be rehabbed to make them have decent. with them moving into the heart of RiNo there will be even a more of a stumbling around....
Last I talked to Patrick they are indeed looking at the heart of RiNo. Hopefully they find a good home with tons of space as they were crazy packed even behind the taproom.
