Riverlands (2020)

Hop Rich is really, really good. Had a draft pour and am definitely walking out with a 4 pack

 

The new Pollyanna spot opened by House Pub and is a cool space. The new Beer Cellar in Geneva along with Riverlands are my top 2 spots in the area

 

keep up the good work! It’s obvious Riverlands has a growing reputation for great hazy beer, but I’ve been impressed by several other things too. I loved the Vienna lager collab a while back, and have had several classic IPAs heavily hopped over sturdy malt backbones. Had an English mild at the beer cellar that was nice as well.

 

Oh, I know about Tighthead. Not a fan (shrug emoji)

Riverlands really seems to nail Galaxy hops. Both Silt and Hop Rich are great examples.

 

Well with Silt coming out this week some side by side action is in order for the weekend!

It is. Met the head brewer/owner Lane 2 months into the opening and picked his brain on what he wants to brew and where he plans on heading. Good guy. Completely different direction than what I was told he wanted to do. Blame outside influences.

 

Hop Rich is the best all-galaxy haze I’ve had. Nailed it.

 

And there’s Emmett’s in Palatine & RAM in Schaumburg! Should we keep going?! Haha, I totally get your reasoning on venturing out to Riverlands.

Joking aside, I went to Roaring Table a couple times during their first year, thought it was actually pretty good. Was really impressed by their Hype’s Kryptonite unfiltered pilsner. Nice feel to their space as well. Curious how the direction conveyed to you differs from your current perceived direction?

Easy. After 5-6 months the brews just weren’t doing it for me anymore. Would love to fully support a local brewery, especially one down the street but I’m just not that much of a homer to do so. Wish him the best tho.

 

I don’t know the last time you were there, but I was thoroughly impressed on a recent visit. Very very good Pilsner, outstanding wild ales, pretty good hazy, and a pastry stout that might as well have been the base beer for vanilla benthic.

Finally got around to getting Dream Like State, and you guys nailed it! Great hop combo but the mouthfeel on this one...amazing. Perfection for the style. Keep it up!!
