Heading to Norfolk for a show at the Norva in a few days and was wondering if anyone could recommend any bars close to the venue with a good selection of beers. Also hoping to pick up some things that I can't get in NC. WWS and DFH 120 come to mind but I am sure there are others. Any help would be appreciated.

    Nice.
The only place I have visited in Norfolk is Grapes and Gormet.
It's an older couple that runs it and the guy is the beer guy.
I've definitely picked up a few things here not in NC (Firestone Walker, SixPoint, WIlliamsberg Alewerks) and a few other locals.
I've always seen a least a bottle of 2 of WWS on the shelf (last few times I scored a few 2010 bottles) and the last time I went in he sold me 2 bottles of 120min.

    Cheers
    Chris

Grape and Gourmet is in Virginia Beach, an extra 20-30 minutes past downtown Norfolk. certainly the best bottle shop nearby, though; the Total Wine in Norfolk is pretty terrible. not sure about the places on Granby near the Norva, but the Birch is the one real beer-geek bar in the city, by all means check them out.

The Birch most definitely...maybe 15 minute drive from NorVa.
if you want some good time bar, then you're out of luck on Granby Street...it's a wannabe Georgetowne.
go into Mo & O'Mallery's, though and enjoy the live irish music and a Guiness.

Mo & O'Mallery's is maybe a few block walk from the NorVa.

ENJOY...who are you going to see live?

Empire 1 block over on Granby Street has a good selection of Belgiums and US craft beers. Bodega, also on Granby, has a decent selection of beers (e.g., Young's DBCS, Stone IPA, Aventinus, Duval, etc.). Birch Bar (West ghent), Publick House (Colley Avenue), and Tap House (21st Street) are all about 10 minute drive away, and have superb selections of beers.

P.S., you can get DFH 120 on tap at Public House. And ET Biscotti on tap at Birch.

Even though it is quite a bit past Norfolk, I have to second Grape & Gourmet. Awesome shop with lots of stuff not found in NC.
