This is excellent advice. The Sante Portal in Santa Cruz also has Private Press for in-house if you don't have time to swing by Lupulo (but you should make time).

Also just to clarify from the original post, Sante is not in Monterey and SF, it's Santa Cruz and Oakland along with the OG Capitola location. The OG and the Portal are about 10 mins apart, depending on HWY 1 traffic.

I really enjoyed drinking at Beer Thirty Bottle Shop and Pour House in Santa Cruz. Liquid Gold and City Beer Store in SF are must visits when I'm there.

City Beer Store just closed their main location, and only have a smaller location in a different part of SF. I'd hit Lupulo over Beer Thirty personally. Beer Thirty has more taps but Lupulo has the beers I'd actually want to drink and a very nice in-house selection of bottles.

I agree that Lupulo has better beer offerings than Beer Thirty.

    Pour Taproom has also closed.

That area has the potential to truly become a world class hub for fermented beverages. Do you know if the folks at Toro Creek are still making a go of it?

Can recommend Lo-Fi in Los Alamos, AmByth in Templeton, and Apero Club in Santa Cruz for natural wines. In the bay area, there are tons. Check out raisin

Everything is relative and palate dependent, but IMHO you can't go wrong with either. #FirstWorldProblems.

Didn't know about Wondrous; I am checking them out right now!

Has Cellarmaker fallen from grace, or were you never that much into them to begin with?

Cellarmaker strikes me as being about the same as it has always been, though others may have more recent experience to better judge. It's more that Wondrous is that good -- clean and precise.

Wondrous is very good and definitely recommend it, but I still prefer Cellarmaker.
