On Thursday the family and I embark from Grand Rapids, Michigan to Bentonville, Arkansas to visit family. We are staying the night in St. Louis on Thursday and will likely arrive around noon. Besides Side Project, anyplace else I need to hit. Downtown would be preferred. Any beer stores as well? Finally, if there is anything cool coming down from Illinois or when we head out from St. Louis on 44 let me know.

As for St. Louis, I plan to take the 4 year old to the City Museum but how about cool places to eat? Thank you.

    For breweries, would highly recommend:
Urban Chestnut Grove Brewery and Bierhall (4465 Manchester Ave, St. Louis, MO 63110) and has a great German food selection as well.
    4 Hands Brewing Co (1220 S 8th St, St. Louis, MO 63104).

    For stores:
Craft Beer Cellar (8113 Maryland Ave, Clayton, MO 63105)
The Wine and Cheese Place (7435 Forsyth Blvd, Clayton, MO 63105).

If you have time, would suggest the St. Louis Zoo or anything else you would find interesting in Forest Park along with the City Museum for the little one.

Thank you. I wish we had time for the zoo but that would mean no breweries for me.

If you are going to Side Project then you might as well not limit yourself to downtown. Schlafly Bottleworks and Heavy Riff are close to SP and are worth visiting. Closer to Downtown, I'd say go to Schlafly Tap Room (good food here) and 4 Hands

As far as places further out on 44, in Springfield there's Mother's and Brown Derby, plus Pappo's if you want to stop and eat.
