    Hi all,
Was wondering if anyone has any up-to-date suggestions for what to hit up en route across OH (ie- what's on rotation these days, limited/seasonal local releases, etc).. i'll be heading to Cincy, and plan on stopping by spots to bring back home (to the DC/NoVa area).
Mainly lookin for current/fresh releases, or good finds that don't make it out of that area.

    I'm planning on swinging by Columbus, to see if there is any Columbus Brewing stuff -- i hear their IPAs are top pretty solid (is Bodhi out at this time of year? is Columbus IPA fairly easy to find/get?);
Also definitely gonna swing by Jackie O's (excited!) ... is there anywhere I can pick up bottles (or cans) of Jackie O's stuff? otherwise i'll have a few growlers with me to top off. Is BrewKettle White Rajah available now, easy to find, and where?

In Cincy & NKY, I'm def gonna hit up Jungle Jim's, Cork N Bottle, & Party Source -- hearing good things; hopefully good stuff is on the shelves ... possibly cross the border to check Indy state-line shops. Specifically, I'm on the lookout for 3Floyds, if I leave with anything -- how likely/unlikely will I be able to come out with Floyds brews? And what else (top breweries/brews) should I look out for?

    Any recommendations/suggestions are appreciated. Cheers!

Bodhi will be draft only, but it should be easy to find on tap around C-Bus. Three Floyds will be easy to find in Ohio, KY, and IN. More varities will be in Indiana though. Brew Kettles White Rajah is out and fresh right now, but no idea if you'll find any that far south.... sells quick, so it'll just depend on when the truck drops it off. You might have to look for that one in C-Bus, as I think it's even harder to find in the Nati.

Do yourself a favor and grab some Headhunter when you see it too.

    Cool.
yea, i was in pittsburgh earlier this month, and was quite impressed with the beer scene -- even ended up at a homebrewer group's tasting party (doin some final tastes to decide on which to submit for competitions that wknd!!); was able to spend some time and $ at fat heads saloon and get pour after pour of headhunter, and bring back some bottles too -- it lived up to its expectation; probably pick up some more too while i'm out there. For the ThreeFloyds stuff, i presume i'll have missed out on the more 'limited' or 'premium' stuff -- what are the typical ThreeFloyds brews that are 'easy to find' that i can expect? (ie- obviously no DL, highly unlikely any ZD, ..but more likely stuff like dreadnaught, arctic panzer, gumball, others?). def hope to get some white rajah & bodhi.

...any jackie o's recommendations? for fills or for visiting the brewpub?

I wouldn't say any of the Three Floyds stuff is 'easy to find' in Columbus. The only stuff I've seen in the last few months were bottles of Zombie Dust (singles for $4/stores got a single case/gone in moments) and Pride & Joy (basically the same deal as Zombie Dust). We typically only get seasonal bombers and this was the second time (I believe) we got ZD and the first time (I believe) we got Pride & Joy. Last bombers I saw were Behemoth and those were gone before any stores even made a peep about them. I've never seen anything Three Floyds last longer than a day or so. Again, this is Columbus, so maybe it's easier in Cinci/KY.

Also, White Rajah is around in Columbus right now. Not all that hard to track down if you stop into the good shops.

If you stay on 275 and go over to Lawrenceburg, IN there is a shop there...forget the name, that people say has most 3 Floyds stuff. It's right off the bridge there, I just can't remember the dang name for the life of me.

As far as other stores, I know you said Party Source, but Party Town in Florence, KY is about as good a store as I've been to. Ask for anything you don't see but know is in season, they might have it. I asked about 120 min IPA and BA Boris and they had both in the back. Good luck!

DEPS in Ft. Thomas, KY (~5min from Party Source) has 24 taps on their growler station. The list posted is a couple of weeks old - but you could call for an updated list. 859-781-8105.

Their 'on deck' kegs include 3F Robert the Bruce, Noble Rot, Oskar Blues Gubna, Left Hand Wake Up Dead, Sierra Nevada Blindfold, Blank Slate Awakening, Stone Oak Smoked & Arcadia 16th Anniversary.

Just don't confuse it with the DEPS in Covington KY (also 5 Min from party source) unless you wanna grab some Hennessy....

I think Whitey's Package Store is the one you are talking about. On my stops there they've had FFF Arctic Panzer Wolf, Alpha King, Dreadnaught, and Robert the Bruce.

Thanks for all the tips, BAs! I'm excited to get huntin for good brews! Any other suggestions for OH (columbus, athens, cincinnati), Northern KY, or east IN (near Cincy).. please let me know.

Also, I read somewhere that there are no beer sales in Indiana on Sundays? is this true?

I'll be runnin the marathon this sunday in cincy, so a cinco-de-mayo/marathon-finish celebratory bunch of area beers will be my reward. woot!

Correct, no beer sales in Indiana on Sundays, though if you go to a brewery in the state they are allowed to sell bottles and growlers for carry-out.

You might want to check out Listermann's for their latest bottle release debuting this Friday.

Right off 71 is a relatively new brewery in Cincinnati, MadTree. The amber and ipa are good. All their stuff blurs style lines.

Jungle Jim's in Fairfield has a great national and international beer selection.

I"ll be heading to the Cincy/Newport area tomorrow(last min trip). Anyways, with the route I'm taking, I could stop at either Jungle Jim's. I'm wondering if one offers a better beer selection then the other? I've been to the original store once a couple years ago.

I don't think you can go wrong at either. I haven't directly compared the two in the same week but they seem to have about the same selection.

The Fairfield store gets more traffic and can be pretty sparse with product at the end of the weekend, depending on what your looking for. Not sure how fast Eastgate runs thru their product. Good news is they both now have growler stations.

Thanks for the info. I figured they were pretty much the same, but thought I'd check. I think I'll stop by the east gate location, since I haven't been to that one yet. I may try to stop by Dutch's or DEPS as well.
